Behind The Scenes: Estelle Is Such A 'Freak'

Estelle gives us a behind the scenes look at her new video for her song "Freak."

From what I can see, it looks like it's going to be a good watch. I can already hear people up in arms over her black make-up.

Producer Claims Beyonce Didn't Write 'Bootylicious'

Say ahhh for a tablespoon of deja vu.

Producer Rob Fusari, who is also the brain child behind Lady Gaga's success, has gone on record claiming that Destiny's Child 2001 smash hit "Bootylicious"- which went on to become a word in the American dictionary - was in fact his creation and not that of Beyonce.

Obviously, we have been here before when it comes to the claiming of songs that was written by Bey, "Irreplaceable" anyone?

Rob was also behind the lyrics for Destiny's Child's debut single "No, No, No."

Billboard.com sat down with Rob to discuss all things Lady Gaga and Beyonce and here is what he had to say about "Bootylicious" and him not getting full recognition for it.

Lil Wayne Is On Twitter & He Has New Teeth!

Yesterday must have been the day of firsts for Lil Wayne. The rapper, who is scheduled to appear in court in 8 days to receive sentencing for his gun charge, decided to create a new twitter and Ustream account.

He also took the time out to show off actual pearly whites...yes, real teeth!

So I was right after all about them knocking some of those shiny buzzards out, I must be psychic.

Apparently, he decided to keep the top half of his shiny grill. I'll take what I can get, just the sheer joy of seeing white teeth in Wayne's mouth is enough to suffice.

For all you Wayne fans out there that are interested in catching up with his thoughts before he heads out to jail, his twitter account is @liltunechi...go ahead and get your stalk on.

You Can Keep The Sex Kitten, I'll Take A Vocalist Any Day

Much like life, music and the purveyors of the genres tend to change over time. I happen to love change and embrace all that it has to offer. That of course, all depends on if it is changing for the good or if it is changing for the bad.

The one thing that I have noticed that has changed a lot in music – and this really goes for all genres – is that being a sex kitten as a female artist is a must. You have to wear little to nothing and you’ve got to have the body for it. It appears that most music fans are not really interested in the artists that can sing but more so the artists that can satisfy our ocular cravings with their six-packs and bedroom eyes or their plumped-up cleavage and round derrieres.

Believe me, I’m no hater. I like a little eye candy here and there, who doesn’t? I say earn your money the best way you know how; however, as a music fan I prefer the vocalists over the sex kittens…and here’s why.

Nicki Minaj Covers Fader Magazine

Nicki Minaj is the cover girl for Fader Magazine's March 2010 issue.

This issue hits stands March 2nd.

Lil Wayne's Teeth Are Painful...

...for him.

The rapper reportedly underwent 8 root canals, teeth implants and had a few of the one's he has left repaired.

I guess I was wrong when I thought they were going to knock those shiny buzzards out.

The teeth makeover took 8 hours to complete and Wayne is currently recovering from the surgery.

8 root canals?? What was he doing to have to get 8 of those?! People usually beg for forgiveness after getting just one.

Now that-that is over, the rapper will have to report to court on March 2nd to receive his sentencing.

Friday's Food For Thought: Luciano 'I Remember When'

In this new series, I will post videos of songs that promote actual thinking through its lyrics. And what better video to kick-start the cerebrial music post than Luciano's "I Remember When."

The first time I heard this song was a couple of years ago while I was watching VH1 Soul. The video adds scenerary and finishes what the lyrics start.

There aren't too many songs out right now that taps into the mind.

Those are usually viewed as boring.

But "I Remember When" is a very moving song and it is literally impossible to ignore its presence.

Quite appropriate for Black History Month don't you think?

Morning Ear Candy: Beyonce 'Me, Myself, And I'

"So controlling , you said that you love me
But you don't
Your family told me one day
I would see it on my own
Next thing i know i'm dealing
With your three kids in my home
Love is so blind
It feels right when it's wrong"

Official Artwork For Beyonce & Lady Gaga's 'Telephone'

Very psychedelic.I'm still digesting the telephone hat, Gaga is too creative for me.

New Music: The Dream 'Love King'

Here is new music from The Dream titled "Love King." The single is scheduled to appear on The Dream's forthcoming album Love King.

"Love King" sounds like it uses the same skeleton for the beat for "Shawty Is A 10" but if you ask any of his fans they will say that-that is just his signature style. i just think that it was recycled.

The Dream may be going a little harder this go round as he really, really wants Grammy acknowledgment. According to him, this is his last album; I say we'll wait and see if that sticks.

New Melanie Fiona Album Coming This Fall

Melanie is ready to head back in the studio to put out another certified album. The singer that was recently nominated for a Grammy is not looking to take any breaks and is prepared to ride on her current wave of success.

Melanie told Vibe that the album is slated for a Fall release and will show her exploring a more Rock and Hip-Hop side of the spectrum.

Though she assures that she will still hang on to her soulful roots, she is looking to grow as an artist by exploring all that music has to offer.

"It’s still going to have a lot of the soul influence," she says. "I kind of want to explore a rock, more hip-hop kind of side. That's going to be fun, creating something new."

Definitely excited for Melanie's new album. Her debut The Bridge is really a great album from the first track to the last...I am head over heels in love with "Johnny" and of course "It Kills Me."

Melanie Fiona will be embarking on a tour with Alicia Keys via Alicia's "Element" tour that is scheduled to kick off in two weeks in Quebec, Canada.

Morning Ear Candy: Groove Theory 'Tell Me'

"If you thought I'd sleep on this
Boy you're wrong 'cause all I dream about is our first kiss
And you're the first one to make me feel like this
And this is one opportunity that I can't miss no, no"

Solange's recent cover of this single encouraged me to post the original so that the youngings can hear what the original sounds like.

I remember in high school going to the record store and spending almost 2 hours trying to find their album. I couldn't remember the group's name and I couldn't recall the lead singer that I now know by heart (Amel Larrieux) name. Thankfully, there was a very soulful brother that was hip to R&B, the only one in the store that was, that recognized the little bit of chorus lyrics that I remembered at the time.

Just an example of how powerful good music is, it will have you in the record store like a crackhead looking for a music fix.

M.Y.'s Perfect 10: Top 10 Best R&B Duets

It seems that duets have become a lost art in R&B – a genre it does so well in. I found myself sitting and listening to the radio trying to understand why I felt music was a little dry. And then it occurred to me, there seems to be a shortage of quality duets between quality artists. I’m talking the kind of duets that make it on your list of favorites, the kind that makes you want to close your eyes and forget about your worries for just a minute, the kind of songs you play for that special person….or do people not do that anymore? Well to those that do, here are my top 10 duets (in no particular order) that are the best of the best.

Akon Says Lady Gaga Is A Blessing

There is no doubt that Lady Gaga has come in like a silent storm and has successfully taken over the genre of pop, crazy fashion and all.

What most people don't know is that pop's problem child is the spawn of Akon....in other words, Gaga is signed to hip-hop artist Akon's label KonLive under Interscope Records' umbrella...ella, ella...of course.

That's right, we have Akon to thank for all of Gaga's, Gaga.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Akon talked Lady Gaga and what her success has done for him thanks to his gut feeling that told him to give her a shot and now he is thanking his lucky stars that he did.

"Yo, I want to sign that right there. She needs to be under my umbrella. Jimmy was like, 'Yeah, whatever you want. Take her. Let's get it done.' And she just blossomed into a super megastar, man."

"She's pretty much retired me. She was definitely a blessing. She came at the right moment. I'm glad I believed in her, boy. That goes to show you, if you believe in something strong enough, it will pay off."

I guess opposites really do attract.

Ashanti's Getting A Reality Show

Are they just handing out reality TV shows somewhere?

Ashanti is a new addition to the reality show bandwagon with her new reality show with a twist. Instead of Ashanti having a camera following her around capturing all of her akward moments with her family, she will have an American Idol style reality show.

The press release said:

R&B star Ashanti has teamed up with the producers of Ugly Betty and The Office to create a new reality TV contest. The singer/actress has just signed a deal with the brains behind Reveille Productions to produce and host her own version of American Idol.Details of the show are being kept tightly under wraps, but Ashanti’s manager/mother Tina Douglas tells WENN, “It’s an unscripted television show that is definitely music related. We’ll be revealing more in the coming weeks. “She has her own record label, called Written Entertainment, and the show is going to revolve around her label… It’s going to be really big.”

I'm not too sure about this. Ashanti isn't really a top vocalist and her career hasn't been that great. Then again, Randy Jackson can't really bust a move but he has the top rated dance show on MTV.

Speaking of work and Ashanti, she has reportedly enlisted hip-hop producer Dr. Dre to produce her upcoming album. There is no word when the album will hit store shelves.

Sade's Recent Sales Prove That People Will Buy Good Music

I just love it when points are proven by numbers. Sade has set the bar for the rest of 2010 by moving 502,000 units of the band's latest release Soldier of Love.

According to Nielson Soundscan, Sade stormed the Billboard 200 charts and claimed the number one spot with their album, making it the best selling album thus far in 2010.

These numbers just prove that people are still purchasing albums that they feel are worth purchasing. And what makes the situation even more golden, is that they did not have to resort to tacky marketing tactics to get the public's attention.

No nudity. No Auto-Tune. No fabricated leaked gossip.

Just good music and old fashion marketing.

Solange Covers Groove Theory's 'Tell Me' (Video)

Solange recently covered Groove Theory's hit 90's single "Tell Me" at a store opening in NYC.

This is my song and I think Solange did a good job.

This song brings back great memories, I'm talking Reeboks, Jordans, baggy jeans and people washing your car windshield without permission and asking you for a $1 for making it look worse...it's a NYC thing.

I was a little worried there, I noticed she was spending more time DJ'ing and not really putting out new material. Good to see that she is still putting those vocals to work.

Morning Ear Candy: Jesse Powell 'You'

This is a classic!

"Next year lets call this day our anniversary
The day I put my heart in your hand and said that it was yours to keep
From this moment on say that you'll always be mine
'Cause girl when I'm alone with you there's only one thing that's on my mind
And baby it's you... "

Behind The Scenes: Stills From Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' Video

Lady Gaga is gearing up to premiere her highly anticipated video for her song "Telephone"that features Beyonce . I really like the song because it has an interesting concept and the lyrics match the theme of the song to a t.
As you can see, we are going to be in for a treat as this woman is too creative for words. Take this still for instance, she turned a telephone into a hat, who else do you know can do that or would even think of that. I wonder what the designer was thinking when she approached them with the idea....

There is no word on when the video will premiere, but according to sources it may be premiering in the next two weeks, we'll see.

Video Premiere: Black Eyed Peas 'Imma Be' + 'Rock That Body' (Imma Rock That Body)

The Black Eyed Peas is a very innovative group that are constantly coming up with new ways to reinvent themselves while still keeping their ears to the same ol', same ol'.

Their idea to premiere a futuristic double video for their songs "Imma Be" and "Rock That Body" is yet another example as to why they are just too hot.

The songs that appear on their Grammy Award-winning album The E.N.D. are combined to make one video depicting them as futuristic artists equipped with break-dancing robots and guns that have mouths shaped like speakers.

I always find it interesting how no one really knows the other two members of the group besides Fergie and will.i.am. If you are interested, the other two are apl.de.ap and Taboo (with names like that, is there any mystery why they are a mystery?).

Though they get no recognition I couldn't imagine the group without them, they're great to look at.

Check out the double video after the jump. Oh, and just so you know, you will be donating 10:16 of your time, but it's worth it in my opinion.

The Title Of Kanye West's New Album Has Been Revealed

Yeah, I know...there are some people out there that could careless about Kanye West or the album he is reportedly working on, but I bet y'all are still reading on to find out the title anyway because you secretly adore his rude @$$ or at least his music.

One of the artists on Kanye's label, G.O.O.D. Music, that goes by the name of Big Sean revealed via his Twitter account that the title of Kanye's new album will be Good Ass Job.

The rapper informed fans of the title when he boasted that he was flying out to Hawaii to work on his own album as well as complete material on Kanye's.

Only time will tell if everyone will be back on the Kanye bandwagon.

What's interesting is that in an interview done by Kanye that appeared in the February 2009 issue of Vibe, you know the one that made him look like a scruffy 40 year old....

....the rapper said that he wanted to have a smaller fan base than the one he had successfully accumulated over the years.

It seems that everyone is just giving him his wish, I wonder if he feels the same way now.

Rihanna Performs 'Rude Boy' On Ellen [Video]

Rihanna recently stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres show to perform her newly released single "Rude Boy" off of her album Rated R.

Much different from her previous performances, Rihanna gave the crowd a show with her gyrating and 90's reggae dance moves, I'm impressed.

Usually she's seen standing in one place on the stage like a vegetable or cat walking up and down. It was great to see her get into her music, "Rude Boy" seems to be her favorite.

Jay-Z Says "'We Are The World' To Me Will Forever Be Untouchable"

Over the weekend, Jay-Z and basketball player LeBron James held their 4th Annual 2 Kings Dinner in Dallas, Texas and while on the red carpet at the event, Jay-Z answered questions pertaining to the remake of "We Are The World."

The song that was remade in honor of its 25th anniversary as well as a form of awareness and avenue for people to donate to the earthquake stricken Haiti, included solos that were performed by T-Pain, Lil Wayne and Akon with auto-tune and also featured solos from Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige to name a few.

Though done with great motive, the remake has received ample criticism with much reason; and now rapper Jay-Z is giving his $0.02 about the song explaining that the original is untouchabele.

I know that everybody gonna take this wrong...but I think "We Are The World" is like "Thriller"...to me I don't ever want to see it touched. I appreciate the efforts and everything, but "We Are The World" to me will forever be untouchable.

And I agree....

I understand that the song is best reflecting what music is today but I just think that it could have been executed better. The use of auto-tune 2 years after it was seen as popular and is now seen as played out is a no, no and a music fopaux.

Yes it was done for a good cause, but putting together material and going off of the fact that its for a good cause thinking  no one will really criticize it, is cheating the full potential of music and the healing powers it embodies.

The good news is not everyone hated it, some people were quite moved by the remake.

Here's a video of Jay-Z talking about the remake.

Video Premiere: Various Artists 'We Are The World' (Remake)

Here is the video premiere of the remake of "We Are The World" - a song that was originally written by Lionel Richie and the late Michael Jackson.

The original version of the song is officially celebrating its 25th anniversary and they thought it would be a good idea to remake the song with brand new artists. This recording included over 80 artists from various genres. Some of the artists that got solos were Usher, Fergie, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Wyclef Jean, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton to name a few.

All of the proceeds from this song is said to go towards the relief efforts in Haiti.

Because it is a song for a good cause I will reserve some of my thoughts out of fear that the universe will slap me in my mouth...however, I have to say that the song could have done without some of the characters that surprisingly received solos. Where was Jazmine Sullivan, John Legend, Jill Scott, Melanie Fiona, Alicia Keys,Lady Gaga, Estelle? I was even looking for a solo from Beyonce and... :gasp: Rihanna.

....And the auto-tune did very little justice.

The perfectionist in Michael would not have let some of what appeared in the song leave the cutting room floor, but hey.

Enjoy it for the good cause and the motive behind it, because it really is a beautiful song. As for me, simply because I adore the classics, the original "We Are The World" (the song that inspired many elementary school graduates who sang it at their graduations during the 90's) will remain in my iPod.

Yummy Pix: Lady Gaga Is Pearly White

Lady Gaga fails to surprise me these days. I almost know whenever she appears in events that she will breakout her most random digs and turn a red carpet into a classy red carpet.

So I wasn't at all taken aback by her outfit that she adorned for amfAR's (American Foundation for AIDS Research) benefit gala.

The singer attended the gala last night wearing a pearl inspired wardrobe. The "Paparazzi" singer covered herself in pearls from head to toe...and I really do mean from head...

 ...to toe.

While some of us were clutching our blankets yesterday due to this thing called a snow storm, Lady Gaga was taking her clothes off and covering her body with oyster pearls.

Nothing further.

The Ultimate Sade Post: Sade On 106th and Park, David Letterman And The View

I really had to do it! I was so taken by her newest effort Soldier of Love that I thought it was needed to devote an entire post to her many show appearances that she has done in the past week.

If you haven't picked up your copy of Soldier of Love, please do it is so worth the cash.

Sade has been quite busy these past few days making appearances on shows like The View, David Letterman and 106th and Park....yes, 106th and Park.

Video Premiere: Rihanna 'Rude Boy'

Here is the new video from Rihanna for her song "Rude Boy." This single appears on her album Rated R in stores now.

This video is hot!

I love the fact that Rihanna added some much needed color to her life. All that dark and grungy stuff was getting depressing, it was time to turn to some bright hues.

And we need to give the girl props for her body movements, that's the most we've seen her move since "S.O.S."

Kelly Rowland Enlists Ne-Yo For New Album

According to reports, Kelly Rowland has booked studio time with the go-to R&B songwriter Ne-Yo.

This is a very smart move for Kelly as Ne-Yo is a genius in the studio and with the pen and knows how to interpret his emotions and the emotions of others through words and melody.

The new project is said to be released under Motown Records; however, confirmation of the new deal has not been given yet.

I hope that Kelly can get the recognition she deserves. With new management and a new state of mind anything is possible here on out.

yPod: Ludacris ft. Nicki Minaj 'My Chick Is Bad' + Ne-Yo 'Heroes'

Ludacris teams up with Nicki Minaj to give us this animated club track. Where is this battle of the sexes album.

New music from Ne-Yo has leaked which is getting me a bit excited, it's been a while since Ne-Yo has ruled the airwaves solo. Ne-Yo is said to be working on his new album that is being touted as The Year of The Gentleman part 2.

Lil Wayne's Teeth Save Him From Sentencing

I had the strangest feeling that Wayne would not be reporting to prison today. Even after he went on Ustream last night to bid farewell to his fans, I just didn't believe for sure that he would be reporting to prison.

My nagging sixth sense was on point as it has been reported that his sentencing was postponed due to unfinished oral surgery.

As you know, Lil Wayne has a mouth full of diamond teeth. From what I understand, they knocked out all of his pearly whites to replace them with diamond encrusted teeth and now they have to knock those out to replace them with pearly whites...again.

Weird I know?

When this news broke I wondered if he knew that this would happen. The dental work wasn't complete when he reported to court which means they weren't complete when he made the video, surely that must have been a fact he could have dropped, no?

At any rate, Wayne is scheduled to report back to the Manhattan criminal court in NYC for sentencing on March 2, 2010.

Sneak PeaK At Rihanna's 'Rude Boy' Music Video

Looks like fun.

The official premiere of Rihanna's "Rude Boy" video is scheduled for this Thursday, February 11th, 2010.

Does T-Pain Still Have Fire Left In His Career?

T-Pain has made a name for himself as being that artist that uses auto-tune to no avail. He has successfully built his career on the software and doesn’t look like he is interested in letting up on it.

He was doing just fine with it, churning out countless hits and becoming the featured King. Literally at the 2008 Grammy Awards, T-Pain was on every song that was nominated in one of the categories, that’s how in much demand he was.

Surely but truly, other artists wanted in on the phenom which kick-started the all too familiar saying “all good things must come to an end.” Other artists started incorporating the effect into their songs thinking that they could eliminate the need for REAL singers by using auto-tune like toilet tissue, literally and figuratively.

Soon everyone grew tired of the sound of auto-tune and that is when the bashing began. At the center of it all was T-Pain, who was dubbed the person that made it popular again, and it seemed like his career suffered a crushing blow during the summer of 09’ when Jay-Z declared auto-tune dead.

With the lack of hits T-Pain has been able to supply from 2009 till now, does he still have some fire left in his career?

Album Review: Sade 'Soldier of Love'

Singer Sade Adu returns with her band to bring us a new LP titled Soldier of Love. The sixth studio album holds gems that are much needed in a time of music where everything is evolving and taking on synthetic sounds.

Jay-Z And Beyonce Were Still Making Money At The Super Bowl

Jay-Z and Beyonce really have to be one of the most powerful couples we have seen in a while. Besides the fact that their names are brands at this point, they were able to land commercial spots during the Super Bowl; oh how that must have made their enemies bloods boil.

Beyonce appeared in a commercial for Vizio in which she has a multi-million dollar endorsement with, while Jay-Z appeared in a kick-off commercial for the event.

Somewhere right now someone's getting a check.

Keke Wyatt opens up about the controversial stabbing incident with ex-husband

For most of 2001, Keke Wyatt was the premiere artist with the golden vocals to boot. Most known for her duet with singer Avant for his song “My First Love” and later for her flawless cover of Patty Labelle’s “If Only You Knew”, Keke was certainly at the top of her game and was considered one of the best vocalists the genre of R&B had to offer.

Unfortunately during the latter part of 2001, Keke’s career and reputation was hit with some drama after it was reported that the singer allegedly stabbed her now ex-husband and road manager, Rahmat Morton, on Christmas Day.

Following the event, the bevy of stories that emerged were immense, with gossip mavens adding their tilt of the truth for views, which ranged from Keke serving time to Morton having part of a steak knife, allegedly used by Keke, removed from his back.

Some have even used the event and Keke’s name for kicks and giggles.

Keke recently took the time to address the controversial event by giving her reasons behind her actions also revealing that if she could, she would have handled the situation differently.

Robin Thicke & Nicki Minaj Perform On David Letterman [Video]

Robin Thicke and Nicki Minaj recently stopped by the David Letterman Show to perform their song "Shakin' It For Daddy" in front of a late night studio audience.

I'm going to be honest, I do not like this song and I highly doubt that it will grow on me. Not saying that it may not stick with others, but for me it's just not my cup of tea and before Sex Therapy I thought it wasn't Robin's either.

Kudos to Nicki for making her way to national TV and shout out to the designer of her dress, Dominique Auxilly, who was among my high school graduating class; but other than the mentioned positives, this performance paired with the song was too difficult to get through, sorry.

Exclusive Interview: Keke Wyatt talks 'Who Knew', new music project with Avant & rumors

Keke Wyatt returns with her forthcoming album Who Knew; her first complete LP in 9-years.

The singer successfully made a name for herself during the earlier half of the 2000’s when she sang alongside R&B crooner Avant in his song “My First Love” – winning over the hearts of R&B fans that melted at the sound of her soulful vocals.

Keke later released her first album Soul Sister that spawned the hits “Nothing in This World” and her impeccable cover of Patti Labelle’s “If Only You Knew.”

After experiencing a few setbacks and a much publicized personal life, Keke is ready to satisfy the appetites of her fans that have been waiting patiently for new material, by serving her new album on a silver platter all the while leaving enough room at the table to welcome in new fans.

Keke recently participated in an interview where we discussed rumors, her new album and an exciting new project with Avant.

Is The Media's Love Affair With Beyonce Over?

After watching the Grammy's last Sunday along and witnessing the response that Beyonce's performance received, I am convinced that the media is no longer in love with her and want out of their relationship….just in time for Valentine’s Day, how sweet.

Beyonce Talks Grammy Awards PDA With Jay-Z [Video]

Remember that Grammy moment that everyone still can't stop talking about? My aunt said it, the next day everyone, as planned, went bonkers over Beyonce saying I love you to Jay-Z in front of a live audience and fans watching from home.

Though I feel Beyonce was feeling the "Heat" that night (get it?) or maybe had a few sips of happy juice, Beyonce says that she decided to get all lovey-dovey during her win because she was so happy to be taking home another award.

I thought it was cute...and the reason why everyone completely forgot she broke the Grammy record.

Fantasia Performs 'Even Angels' On The Oprah Winfrey Show [Video]

Here is a video of Fantasia performing her new single "Even Angels" on the Oprah Winfrey Show. This episode is scheduled to air later on today.

Love the song! The chorus is very catchy and her emotions was a nice touch.

'Notorious' Is Now Available On HBO On Demand

I remember watching the biopic of the Notorious B.I.G.'s life in the theaters, but once the credits went up, I wanted to see it again.

Well, now the film is available on HBO On Demand for those of you who didn't get a chance to catch it in theaters or for those of you who enjoyed it so much you have to see it again.

Though some have criticized the film because of its minimal accuracy, Lil Kim being the most notable naysayer, I really enjoyed Notorious because it presented facts about Biggie that I didn't even know exist.

At any rate, if you've got HBO On Demand, make sure to make Notorious apart of your movie night tonight.

Twitterati: Solange Mad At The Lack Of Attention Beyonce Received After Breaking Grammy Awards Record

Don't you just love twitter? I mean....I'm not crazy about it when people are posting random ish that is something about nothing, but I do heart the social network for getting people's true thoughts.

One of the celebs that is no stranger to expressing her true thoughts via twitter decided to vent her frustrations with the media not praising her sister,Beyonce, for setting a new record for the most awards received during the ceremony by a female artists.

Popcorn Moments: Kim Burrell & Jennifer Hudson's BET Honors Tribute To Whitney Houston

The BET Honors aired last night on BET. During my bout with drifting in and out of sleep I caught a few performances including Mary J Blige's tribute to Diddy and Patty Labelle and Jazmine Sullivans salute to Queen Latifah.

One of the tributes that was so worth watching was the tribute to Whitney Houston which saw Jennifer Hudson and Gospel singer Kim Burrell singing Whitney's hit singles "I Will Always Love You" and "I Believe In You and Me" respectively.

Whitney was too excited for words, so just watch.

Jennifer Hudson's voice is so powerful! Gives me chills.

M.Y. Recap: 52nd Annual Grammy Awards

Please excuse my extreme tardiness when it comes to the recap of the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards. I spent the better half of Monday traveling and was so jet-lagged after 5 hours of non-stop plane hopping that I collapsed in bed when I got home only to awake this morning lol.

Between the fam and I wildin’ out for the majority of the award show, there wasn’t anything spectacular about the Grammy’s. I personally stopped caring about the award show a long time ago and more so look forward to the performances instead of the winners.

Lady Gaga opened the show with her musical of “Poker Face.” The singer performed with Elton John during the latter part of her performance.

The best performances would have to go to…

Maxwell. The singer performed his hit single “Pretty Wings” and dived right into a duet with legendary songstress Roberta Flack. The two sang her song “Where Is the Love” and it was beautiful.

I’m not sure if anyone else caught the theme of this year’s Grammy’s, but their slogan was “We’re All Fans.” Throughout the night, some artists performed with other artists that they admire as shown my Maxwell’s performance with Roberta Flack and Lady Gaga’s performance with Elton John.

The other performance that was one of the best performances came via Pink who went Cirque du Soleil, dipped in water mind you. The singer sported a nude cat suit with sparkles covering up her not-suitable-for-TV parts and swung high above the audience performing her song “Glitter in the Air.” Her performance was very captivating and left a lot of people in awe.

Beyonce performed her song “If I Were a Boy”, which was mashed-up with Alanis Morisette’s “You Oughta Know.” I was honestly expecting more as her entrance was so dramatic it was as if we were about to be hit with that new-new. “If I Were a Boy” is so vintage, so 2008 in regards to the music scene; I was hoping that she would have performed her song “Sweet Dreams.” She hardly performs that song live and the last time she did at the MTV European Awards it sucked, sorry.

On a great note, Beyonce ended up setting a new record for the most Grammy awards taken home by a female artist when she took home 6 awards. The record was originally set by Lauryn Hill, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and Beyonce herself taking home 5 awards in one night.

The Black Eyed Peas brought the house down with their performance. A lot of people wonder why they are successful. I believe it is largely impart due to their ear for creating memorable feel good songs.

Jaimie Foxx performed “Blame It” for the umpteenth time with T-Pain. Rock & Roll heavyweight Slash from Guns N’ Roses represented on the guitar as “Blame It” took on a more rock & roll feel.

Lil Wayne, Drake and Eminem ended up closing out the show with Wayne and Eminem performing “Drop the World” and then switching gears into “Forever” all with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker killing it on the drums. Kanye West was noticeably absent.

I think this was Eminem’s first time at the Grammy’s! I could be wrong.

All in all the award show was ok at best. There were performances that were pretty good which made for a great night in music, some I could have definitely done without.

RandomBlurt: Were you as shocked and perplexed to see the cast of MTV's Jersey Shore on the red carpet?! That was worthy of two head shakes.

On the charts...
