Keke Wyatt opens up about the controversial stabbing incident with ex-husband

For most of 2001, Keke Wyatt was the premiere artist with the golden vocals to boot. Most known for her duet with singer Avant for his song “My First Love” and later for her flawless cover of Patty Labelle’s “If Only You Knew”, Keke was certainly at the top of her game and was considered one of the best vocalists the genre of R&B had to offer.

Unfortunately during the latter part of 2001, Keke’s career and reputation was hit with some drama after it was reported that the singer allegedly stabbed her now ex-husband and road manager, Rahmat Morton, on Christmas Day.

Following the event, the bevy of stories that emerged were immense, with gossip mavens adding their tilt of the truth for views, which ranged from Keke serving time to Morton having part of a steak knife, allegedly used by Keke, removed from his back.

Some have even used the event and Keke’s name for kicks and giggles.

Keke recently took the time to address the controversial event by giving her reasons behind her actions also revealing that if she could, she would have handled the situation differently.

Exclusive Interview: Keke Wyatt talks 'Who Knew', new music project with Avant & rumors

Keke Wyatt returns with her forthcoming album Who Knew; her first complete LP in 9-years.

The singer successfully made a name for herself during the earlier half of the 2000’s when she sang alongside R&B crooner Avant in his song “My First Love” – winning over the hearts of R&B fans that melted at the sound of her soulful vocals.

Keke later released her first album Soul Sister that spawned the hits “Nothing in This World” and her impeccable cover of Patti Labelle’s “If Only You Knew.”

After experiencing a few setbacks and a much publicized personal life, Keke is ready to satisfy the appetites of her fans that have been waiting patiently for new material, by serving her new album on a silver platter all the while leaving enough room at the table to welcome in new fans.

Keke recently participated in an interview where we discussed rumors, her new album and an exciting new project with Avant.

Album Review: Keke Wyatt's 'Who Knew'

It has been a while since we’ve heard from the talented songstress Keke Wyatt. When she first made her debut in 2000 by way of R&B singer Avant’s captivating ode to love “My First Love”, R&B fans alike gravitated towards the woman with the mind-blowing powerful vocals and the signature sound. She eventually released her solo effort Soul Sister that went on to place in the top 5 on the R&B charts.

After a setback in 2002 that found the singer indicted for allegedly stabbing her husband during a domestic dispute, Keke Wyatt’s image turned from soft and star-studded to controversial and unforgettable.

But that was then and this is now, and now Keke is back and better than ever. Noticeably svelte and lean, Keke brings a brand new look to the table with the same familiar sound via her newest project titled Who Knew.

Video Premiere: Keke Wyatt 'Who Knew'

Do y'all remember Keke Wyatt?

I nearly jumped from my seat when I saw this new video from her on Necole Bitchie's site. I loved Keke when she was the belle of R&B.

She has been missing for a while, but as you can see she has returned refreshed and slimmer looking A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Plus, the single is hot but that goes without saying.

Though to me she was perfect just the way she was, this look is very becoming of her.

If you need a reminder of who Ms.Wyatt is check out the refresher after the jump.

M.Y. Sunday Kind Of Love: Avant ft. Keke Wyatt-My First Love

Ice Cube and his wife Kimberly, married for over a decade.

"First romance, first love, is something so special to all of us, both emotionally and physically, that it touches our lives and enriches them forever."

Today's Sunday Kind Of Love is brought to us by Avant with his song "My First Love" featuring Keke Wyatt. This song is one of Avant's best work and is a certified classic in my eyes.

A lot of people think that just because their first loves didn 't work out that love doesn't exist, that's a very silly thought.

"It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all", be thankful for your first love because the positive or negative experience you had with them will be the underlining blueprint of what you want or don't want in your true soul mate.
