[NEWS] Erykah Badu Brushes Off Maxwell Drama

Earlier this week, rumors suggested that all was not well with the neo-soulness that is Maxwell, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.

The story was that Maxwell was canceling his tour because he wasn't getting along with Jill and Erykah because they were going over their allotted performance time on stage.

Erykah wants you to know that all of that is bogus. The "Window Seat" singer addressed the rumor via her Twitter explaining that she only did one show with Maxwell and that was in Atlanta and even then, she didn't even see him but he did send her flowers.

Maxwell Just Doesn't Play Nice With Jill Scott and Erykah Badu...

...Well that is why they are saying their tour is being canceled.

In what was seen as the perfect union of neo-soulness is turning into a gumbo of agitated personalities dipped in lack of tolerance when it comes to singer's Maxwell, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.

The conflict is rumored to be over time.

You see, the artists are given designated times for their performance sets. Makes sense. There are three performers and as much as music fans may love the three, we're not looking to spend the night at a concert  I know I'm not.

Apparently, Maxwell is not too pleased with both Jill and Erykah overstaying their time on stage and is looking to call it quits. Supposedly, all of the shows that are scheduled to take place after June 26th will be canceled.

I'm hoping this is just a rumor. In my mind - my imagination that is - I see the three laughing it up over cups of hot chocolate ever so often breaking out into song. They're breaking out all right, just not into song...

Updated to say: According to Billboard.com, the portion of Maxwell's tour that was to kick off June 28 in Greensboro, NC with Melanie Fiona has been postponed till 2011. Maxwell's label cites scheduling conflicts with the venues as the reason why the tour has been canceled. *shrugs*

Maxwell is the Marvin Gaye of today

Not one to partake in comparing one artist to another, I can’t help but to do so with these two. Marvin Gaye was considered one of the best male R&B artists of the 60’s, 70’s and the 80’s thanks to his soulful silky voice and his dashing good looks…and yes, I did use the word “dashing”; how’s that for some throwback vernacular.

Video Premiere: Maxwell 'Fistful Of Tears'

This man can do no wrong in my eyes...

Here is the new video from Maxwell for his song "Fistful of Tears" off of his album Black Summer's Night.

The video is set in a classic black and white fashion with Maxwell performing the song as if he were doing it infront of an audience. No story line. No leading lady. Just Maxwell and his band of shadows.

When the video first started up, I automatically exhaled because I told myself and I think even you that I was soooo tired of black and white videos thanks to it's overuse in 2009. But then I saw that Maxwell added a little twist to a video that I assumed would be simple by only showing the band's detailed shadows. Cool!

Can't wait for the follow up to this album.

Maxwell Is Determined To Help His Hometown Of Haiti

Since the catastropohic earthquake that occured in Haiti last week, people all over the country and the world for that matter have been stepping up to help heal the troubled country.

Singer Maxwell is one more celebrity that is throwing his hat and his heart into the ring. According to BVNews, Maxwell recently attended an emergency meeting organized by President Bill Clinton last week to help create solutions to help combat the destruction the earthquake caused.

Maxwell is urging fans to donate whatever they can to aid his hometown of Haiti (Maxwell's mother is Haitian) in their time of meed.

"I was in a room with all kinds of incredible people from all sorts of different backgrounds, all working on solutions - artists, financiers, disaster specialists and Haiti experts like Dr. Paul Farmer, the public health specialist who is a United Nations Deputy Special Envoy to Haiti," he said.

"Many ideas were discussed that are at this moment being put into action. While the immediate focus is on humanitarian aid and saving lives, the ultimate goal is to rebuild Haiti so that all Haitians can make their country a better place to live for all."

The 'Pretty Wings' singer says that he's committed to assisting President Clinton and that raising money is "the most important thing to do now."

"...The easiest way to do it is through text messaging, but other ways to help include donating to organizations such as the Clinton foundation, Unicef, Red Cross and Wyclef's charity Yele Haiti."

I think in the coming weeks and months, a lot of celebrities will be coming out to show support.

One thing that I have to say is that I had no clue that Maxwell was Haitian.

I knew that he was half Caucasian and West Indian, but never knew that he was raised in Haiti.

There will be a lot of famous actors, actresses as well as artists that are Haitian that we will see coming out of the woodworks, interesting they barely represented before.

Video Premiere: Maxwell-Bad Habits

Whew, whew and whew! Here is the new video from Maxwell for his song "Bad Habits" off of his album Blacksummers'night in stores now.

This video is hot and sultry and made me crave a shot of tequila and a cigarette ....and I don't even smoke!

The video stars the beautiful Kerry Washington and she and Maxwell get naughty and nice shirtless and sweaty (I'm exaggerating just a bit) in a scene made for late nights on Cinemax...loved it!!

This is definitely a great follow up to Max's last video. Kerry recaptured her role in I Think I Love My Wife effortlessly. I now want her and Maxwell to get married as soon as possible.

Maxwell covers Giant

Maxwell is the cover boy for Giant's latest issue and he looks debonair. I am loving the new movement of grown and..well...grown.

It really is refreshing to see veteran artists allowing their music to grow along with them instead of holding on to a distant memory.

Thank you Maxwell for refraining from humping a stage floor with your shirt unbuttoned and your tie around you head. Thank you for pouring your drink in a glass and not drinking it straight from the bottle. Grown is indeed sexy.

Music Menu: Maxwell shows us his "Bad Habits"

mmmm...Maxwell; why did he ever vanish?! He is exactly what R&B has been craving. I mean, kudos to the one's that were holding it down during his hiatus but I think it is safe to conclude that the king is ready to reclaim his thrown so step aside, thanks much!

Here is new music from Maxwell titled "Bad Habits" off of his album Black Summers Night due in stores July 17th. The track is just simply beautiful. I love the fact that he makes it seem so easy and effortless to make his voice flutter like a stringed instrument, that's what I call skills and musically yummy. This is some R&B for the soul.

I must have replayed this about 3 times this AM and I still can't get enough of "Pretty Wings"; though the video for it is not my favorite, a little awkward. I will mos def stan for Maxwell, and let's be clear, I only stan for a selective few.

Yummy Pics: From the looks of things...Nas is doing just fine

Ain't no party like a single man party cause a single man party don't stop. Whew..what I wouldn't do to be a fly on the wall in this hotel room Monday night (06.01); what a way to usher in the new month of June.

Maxwell put up some photo's of he and Nas getting down and Carribean with some girls out in Turks and Caicos and decided to post them up on his twitter. Trust I am not mad, party as hard as you can until the casket closes, but Nas looks like he doesn't have a care in the world, no?

Hmmm...something tells me the females out there are not going to be feeling this one. If it makes y'all feel any better I'm sure he's hurting inside....
Why else would he empty an entire bottle of Patron?

Is Nas in the wrong for partying it up while he is going through a divorce? The woman in me wants to knock him out but then again he is getting a divorce ~shrugs~ why sit and mope about something that seems to be done. I guess those rumors about he and Kelis working things out were a tad false huh :-(?

M.Y. Sunday Kind Of Love: Maxwell-Fortunate

"Some of the greater things in life are unseen thats why you close your eyes when you kiss, cry, or dream..."

This week's Sunday Kind Of Love is brought to us courtesy of Maxwell with his song "Fortunate". This song pretty much speaks for itself, just do me a huge favor and listen to the lyrics, it really can melt the heart. Be fortunate to love and happy Sunday!

Video Premiere: Maxwell-Pretty Wings

Here is the new video from Maxwell for his song "Pretty Wings" off of his album Black Summers Night due in stores July 7th.

It's great to see Maxwell back in the swing of things. I miss his full head of hair, it use to set him a part from the competition plus it was extremely sexy. Even without it though Maxwell still has that certain umph about him.

The video is pretty to the point with a touch of sensuality you know, true Maxwell style.

Video Rating: A yummy B.
