Analyze This: Kanye's ego, is it really that big of a deal?

Earlier today, I was perusing through some blogs (I love reading blogs for the writers opinions) and came across a few comments that focused on something not relevant to the post. The post was a video of Kanye performing one of his songs live but the comments shifted from "good video" to "I can't stand his ego", is it really that big of a deal?

When Kanye first came out I adored him. I loved his style, his pizazz, the fact that he said exactly what was on his mind, and just the fact that he made it cool to just be yourself, kind of like what Biggie did. As of late, I have grown to adore Kanye more not so much for his music but for his "ego". Why you ask? I feel in this type of business you have to do either two things, fight or flight.

In a conversation held over the weekend between me and my future hubby, we spoke about the way we react in certain situations. One of the things I said was that I tend to get a little in-your-face when I feel threatened by people as appose to crawling up in a corner. He described that as choosing to fight versus choosing to flight, which is run. I feel in Kanye's situation he feels he needs to be a little "arrogant" to remain strong and relevant in this ever changing music biz. Instead of being public insecure and unsure of himself (flight) he chooses to put up a familiar wall to keep him focused (fight).

Lets be real here, artists are built up by the media like god's and then broke down and damn near become regulars in rehab by the same media that was praising them, just to be replaced by another unsuspecting rising star. If you don't pat yourself on the back, really who will? It seems that people feel a lot better if artists, or people for that matter, beat themselves up and have nothing but negative things to say about themselves but if they do the complete opposite and give themselves a little love and say how amazing they are they are in the wrong; that is some straight up twilight zone ish, no?

With that said, can we not agree that Kanye has reason to be cocky? Yes, he may take it a little far sometimes but this is really how he's always been. Maybe this is his defense mechanism in surviving. I don't know about the rest of y'all but I can appreciate a person that says exactly what is on their minds more so over a person I just don't know because they choose to keep their thoughts hidden (I still haven't gotten over the "George Bush doesn't like black people" vomit of the mouth, so classic...). I am sure there are a lot of entertainers-if not all-that were pissed that they did not receive an award they knew they deserved, they just choose to play the politics; something Kanye obviously fails to do, thankfully.

Kanye's got a big ego, but I think we all would be feeling ourselves too if we were putting out countless hits for ourselves and others, trust. Plus, aren't you supposed to be your biggest fan anyway?

Analyze This: Hip Hop Wives, is it really worth it?

So, I must have been living under a rock last week when they premiered the E! special Hip-Hop Wives. Some of the wives that were highlighted were Paul Walls wife, DMX's wife, Mos Def's estranged wife, and the late Big Pun's wife.

The only relationship that was normal, judging by the videos, was Paul Wall's marriage. Between DMX going in and out of prison paired with Big Puns wife getting her face smashed in here and there and lets not forget Mos Def quickly marrying an ex-stripper that had other emotional scars; the special seem to show that it isn't all what it's cut out to be.

I have to admit, I felt a little sorry for Mos' wife. Even though she came from practically nothing and made some decisions in her life that could have been wiser, beating on her is unacceptable, and might I add shocking; I didn't know Mos was that type of guy. But it got even more interesting when Big Pun's wife told her story of being a rappers wife....

At what point is it really enough? For that to be categorize as love is disheartening. Can't say that I was surprised that Pun was like that he fit the part, but to hear how horrible of a person he was to the point that his kids were happy when he was absent is a truly sad thing. Something that wasn't showed in this clip is where his wife is now. After Pun's death, she was left with nothing. She ended having to sell Pun CD's and T-Shirts and posting up shop with family members to help make ends meet. Pun left his estates with Fat Joe to do as he pleased. Since then, Pun's wife hasn't seen a penny of his royalties

Obviously the glitz and glamor of being in the public eye can take a toll on a person as well as a marriage, but can it be avoided? People say that it is just a business but it always made me question if Hip-Hop artists can stay monogamous in their relationships when there is a buffet of T&A around them day in and day out. I guess only time will tell. It's good to know that all marriages that Hip-Hop artists are in aren't as tabloid as these two.

Analyze This: Cassie and her nudity

Yet again, there is another nude photo of Cass that is supposedly swarming around the net, this time Cassie has decided to show her cupcake down below to match her cookies she put on full display via Twitter.

Originally I did not post the pictures, simply because I felt sorry for the girl and her desperate attempt at publicity. I would post the link to the picture of her getting her eagle on but 1. that's not my style and 2. the link has already been disabled.

It really is a shame that Cassie has to put herself in such a compromising position. Granted, men in America (and beyond) are absolutely thankful that they got a chance to see Cassie's baked goods (If I were a guy I would empathize), but has it really come to this? If the music is alright and the voice is hmmm OK, if all fails take naked pictures and pretend like you had no idea that they were still lingering and then drop the tale that someone hacked into your comp, no ma'am.

It would have been a lot more commendable if Cassie just admitted to releasing them herself or having knowledge of their release before hand. As crazy as this might sound, the one thing I am hoping is that she decided to release them because she wanted to and not because someone told her it would be a good idea.

Analyze This: Why are we still talking about Janet's nipple?!

Seriously, why are we still talking about it? The infamous wardrobe malfunction is back and with a vengeance. The performance that was done by Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake in which he snatched off a piece of her clothing that exposed her bosom ~snicker~ has now been brought up yet again.

According to reports, the Supreme Court ordered a federal appeals court today to re-examine it's ruling in favor of CBS Corp in conjunction with Janet's wardrobe malfunction. In 2004, Janet and Justin took to the stage during half-time at Super Bowl XXXVIII to give a performance worth remembering and boy did we. At the conclusion of Justin's song "Rock Your Body" he snatched off a piece of Janet's wardrobe to reveal her very pierced nipple all the while singing "I'll have you naked by the end of this song". The FCC went insane along with Tivo, and America was left with their jaws to the floor. At the end of it all, CBS was fined $550,000

Granted the performance was extremely inappropriate given the channel; why is the nipple situation the vein of Janet's existence? America is so strange when it comes to sex. They love talking about it and have done everything except copyright the term "sex sells" but when an a** or tit is shown it's like an abomination. It's funny because the KY Jelly commercial plays during commercial breaks for Jeopardy and we all know what KY is for and it is not used to remove make-up.

I was surprised during the performance, not to see Janet's boob, but to see that her nipple was pierced; she sure does give new meaning to "Ms. Jackson if your nasty". TV is so different today as compared to TV's past. Once upon a time, the words "Bitch" and "Damn" could not be heard on a national television show and now it is a must in the script.

America acts as though they have never seen a nipple before. Did we not nurse from one when we were newborns? So is it not possible to have the image of a nipple etched in our memory banks from birth? Now, I know the basis of people's discontent with the exposing performance was the fact that it was being aired live and there were children watching the program since the Super Bowl is known to be a family event, but am I wrong to be disappointed in the parental units naiveness? Chances are the kids have seen much more than a nipple in their time it's called school, I'm just sayin'.

One of the things that has lost focus, is why Justin Timberlake left Janet to fend for herself as he saved his career by apologizing on behalf of himself and no one else; now that was just wrong and a controversy on it's own.

What are your thoughts, can Janet ever be forgiven for her wardrobe malfunction? Do you think the situation still deserves this much attention?

Analyze This: What's up with Bobby Valentino?

Bobby Valentino blogged for the first time on Global Grind yesterday, and reading it really made my stomach turn. I never really imagined Bobby to be the sexual individual or even found myself the least bit attracted to him (not that he isn't cute). In my humble opinion, I've noticed that with his new album, The Rebirth (In stores now), he has dropped his love and sincere vibe for the ladies and has replaced it with raunchy sexual under and overtones.

Well, right when I thought he couldn't try any harder to be this sexual creature he so wants to be, he writes a blog on threesome's that goes a little something like this....

"What's up, this is your boy Bobby Valentino and I'm very excited to blog for globalGrind. I'm not going to beat around the bush like some of the other blogs; I'm going to jump right into it and let you know 3 is the new 2.

The art of a menage a trois is a great skill to have, but there are some rules you have to follow.

* Bring a lot of liquor (Goose, Nuvo, Henny) and something to chase it

* Bring a lot of condoms: Magnums "the gold standard"

* Pick who you are going to give it to first: If you can't decide who will get it first, choose the one with the butterfly tattoo.

* Give both ladies equal attention: You don't want one shorty getting mad because you are not giving her enough of the big Valentino.

* It's not about you: One thing you must remember is that the threesome is not about you. You have to do your best to turn both women on like Keri Hilson. If you are laying the pipe the right way, they'll do you right. Soon they will both be fighting to top each other sexually when it comes to pleasing you, but if you are wack, you will be on the sideline looking at all the action.

* Do something: There will be a time during the threesome when both women will be focused on each other, so use this time to get your stamina up, rub, grab squeeze and lick. You want to remain the star of the show, but you have to let them get a little camera time.

It's pretty easy to catch feelings for the other chick, but you cannot do that if one of the women in your threesome is your lady. You don't want wifey to go Jazmine Sullivan on you because you got it on with the other woman without her.

You should also be respectful when you bump into either of the women in the streets. You don't want to make her feel bad because she was licking lady parts, after a Bobby V show. In all just use common knowledge and do your best to be the best you can."

Weird for his first blog, but hey it's a blog nonetheless. Bobby V seems to be trying a little too hard to acquire a solid fan base and is using the all too familiar entertainment industry "key to success", sex. In the process he is losing the little fan base he already has. Personally, I think sex is a natural occurrence and it annoys me how the media likes to play up on it but refuse to talk about it and play it off like it's demonic activity. However, there is a very thin line between naturally having "sexy" drip from your lyrics as an artist, and just plain forcing it.

Take Ludacris for example (who happened to have signed Bobby to his label DTP). Luda tends to be a little sexual in his music saying things that will shock but also cause a response of aggreance (from men and women) in what he is saying; but what makes Luda so appealing when he talks sex, is the fact that it never seems forced and you can almost bet he speaks from experience. When Bobby sings about "beeping" , I don't know about anyone else, but it turns me off and it sounds like he lacks experience in that department but does a great job of living vicariously through his friends that live that "ideal" life.

Bobby needs to stay true to himself and resist trying to do whatever it takes to sell records because in the process he comes off as a lame. And if in fact this is who he really is, maybe he needs to tone it down and find another way to express that side of him more naturally.

Plus, a lot of people that have participated in threesome's don't go on and talk about it willingly, it usually just comes up in convo.

What do you think about Bobby's threesome post?

On the charts...
