Rihanna Will Not Perform At The Grammy's

Sorry Rihanna fans, your girl has gone on record stating that she will not be taking to stage to perform Sunday night at the Grammy's.

She broke the news on Carson Daily's show yesterday.

Her reason for not performing is because she believes that she and Chris messed up the Grammy's with their much publicized physical altercation during the early morning hours before the event. She thinks that they might still be mad at her.

I wonder if Chris was invited?....

No worries, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys and Usher (to name a selected few who will perform Sunday night) will just have to do.

I'm loving the concept of the promotion for the Grammy's. Those You Tube videos came in handy!

Update: Rihanna's NOT pressing charges

The web has been going crazy with rumors swarming about the debacle between Chris Brown and Rihanna. I have heard everything from Rihanna being in a car accident to Chris punching Rihanna for giving him herpes *que eye roll*.

The truth, Rihanna has been identified as the woman that was assaulted by Chris Brown. Apparently this has something to do with their recent break-up. Rihanna was not the one that contacted the authorities after the event, a bystander did. After all that went down Rihanna has decided to cease any cooperation with the LAPD and has refused to press charges against Chris Brown, not that that will help.

I have to express my disgust with some media outlets. Starting the rumor that Chris punched Rihanna because she gave him herpes is absolutely ridiculous and defaming. I was listening to the Ed Lover Show, a radio show based here in NYC this morning and he [Ed] had a little skit called "The 10 Reasons Why Chris Whipped Rihanna's Ass"; not funny at all and highly inappropriate.

Domestic violence is a very serious issue and should not be viewed as a laughing matter. Personally, I was a little hesitant reporting on this event because it slips into the gossip realm of blogging and that's not my thing, I prefer to read it not report it; But because it was in connection with the Grammy Awards and their anticipated performances, I felt the need to report.

I may joke a lot and make sting witted remarks, but this right here is a very serious situation and needs to be viewed as such.
Update: According to allhiphop.com, the LA Times are reporting that Rihanna is in fact cooperating with the LAPD to press charges against Chris. He is reportedly no longer in LA. He is said to have flown to the East Coast. Rihanna is said to be on her way to Barbados which is the best thing right now. Keep in mind folks that at this time, these are all considered to be rumors (in my opinion) until both parties' reps confirm any information. All of this is coming from "reliable sources".
My overall take on this remains the same and I must also add that this was an overall recipe for disaster, because it is also being said that the couple broke up week's ago and were forced to act like they were a peachy couple for the camera's.
By the end of the day, Chris and Rihanna are young adults with money, lack of life experience, and had very little supervision; a very bad combination. Either way, even young adults must know right from wrong. I wish the best for both of them and hope that their careers can survive this life changing event.

Grammy Award red carpet pics!

As we know, the Grammy Awards went down last night and it was lack luster and not even close to great but I'll get to that in a min. Anyhow, here are a few pics from the red carpet!

Estelle hit the carpet. Not in love with the dress but I am glad to see her get her shine...

Neyo and guest. One thing I have to give Neyo is that he has an eye for beautiful women. You'll never catch him with a H.A.M. on the red carpet...

The planter peanut guy a.k.a. T-Pain was there shockingly not dressed flashy. He must not have been feeling like himself. Question, are they still wearing grills?!

Jeezy was on the carpet, no comment...

Loves me some Janelle Monae! I am keeping the hope for you girl, I am keeping the hope...

Letoya made an appearance as well looking fresh.

M.Y. Breaking News: Rihanna NOT performing at Grammy's because of Chris Brown!

E! on the red carpet has just reported that Rihanna will not be performing at tonight's Grammy Awards as a result of an incident that has left Chris Brown under investigation by the Los Angeles police department.

Detailed information has not yet been released but what has been said is that Chris got into an altercation with an unidentified woman in his car on his way back from Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party. The woman was reportedly left with visible bruises and pointed out Chris Brown as her attacker.

As a result of said situation, Rihanna has opted not to attend the Grammy's tonight therefore not performing; Chris Brown obviously will also not be attending. Justin Timberlake is said to be Chris' performance replacement.

Wa uh oh! Chris, you beating women now?! Fame and fortune makes Chrissy poo a very grumpy boy. Let's not pass judgement though I'm sure there is a very logical explanation for this, I hope. I'll keep you posted as information comes in.

UPDATE 8:01pm: Allegedly, the unidentified woman is said to be Rihanna. Personally, I think that this may just be a rumor but it somehow makes sense; they did attend the Clive Davis party together. I guess my caption ended up being right on point; Watch out Ms. Cleo! Stay tuned...

Grammy Extravaganza Pics!

The Grammy's are in full effect, and artists and celebrities are all over Hollywood like white on rice. Here are some pics of some of these artists at the 2009 Grammy Salute To Industry Icons honoring Clive Davis. Here are the pics!

The love canaries..[caption] Rihanna: " Uh, we can smile and sh*t now but you do know we need to talk about them loosey goosey's I saw photo's of all up on your reeses piece's in Europe right?"

Chris: Now snukums, you know I don't love them mini's, now gimme some tongue...

Ummm..who's the guy in the back fighting to get him some camera time?

Missy...is that you? Where have you been?!

Jennifer Hudson and Keyshia Cole...you ladies look uncomfortable. Maybe the two of you can discuss working together, that would be super cool.

Side Order: Must be nice...I hear Whitney put it down last night! The Grammy's might just be worth watching this year. I'm more curious in M.I.A. going into labor during her performance of "Swagga Like Us".

Estelle to perform at the Grammy's!

According to The Press Association, Grammy award nominated artist Estelle will perform at this years Grammy award ceremony going down this Sunday, February 8th, 2009.

This is such exciting news, I really do like Estelle and think that this is the boost she's going to need. Plus, Kanye will be present and there is a strong chance that they will perform "American Boy"; I should be so lucky.

Side Order: Remember, the Katie Couric Grammy special airs tonight on CBS at 9 PM. Make sure to catch it!

Watch CBS Videos Online

The Grammy special hosted by Katie Couric will air February 4th @ 9 PM ET/PT on CBS but here is the preview of Lil Wayne's interview. I have to admit that I can always count on Wayne to make me laugh and giggle. He's like a gum ball machine you never know what you're gonna get with him.

Rihanna will perform at the Grammy's

According to MTV, Rihanna has been added to the line up of performers for the 2009 Grammy Award ceremony. The line up already includes Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, T.I. and Jennifer Hudson among others.

There goes my hopes for a better Grammy's this year. I mean yeah, Jay-Z is a good look, I would be excited about Kanye but he appears to be on something at the moment; but none of the performances make me want to record the Grammy's. Sadly, I honestly feel if I miss it I wouldn't care.

It will shock me if Rihanna gives us a decent performance, vocally.

Grammy promo time!

Last week, I reported on the campaign the Grammy's were running which is called "Celebrate The Music That Makes Us", that has enlisted Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Rihanna to name a few.

Well here is the first released promo photo for the campaign and it is of Rihanna. It looks great! I love the idea and the concept. It reminds me of that video this artist put together for Jay-Z's song "Brooklyn (We Go Hard)" featuring Santogold. I can't wait to see the rest.

Side Order: Isn't it funny how we watched Rihanna's career blossom before our eyes?! It's amazing what taking off a few layers of clothing and performing in dominatrix ware can do for a sister...

...And the Grammy goes too...

The nominations are in and now I shall once again drown myself in root beer, eat cookie dough until I pass out into a pool of cake batter mixed with cognac..head first.

Guess who got 8 nominations?..wait for it..wait for it...who else but Lil Wayne a.k.a. weezy f. baby! (and the f stands for?? If it means what I think it means than those pics that surfaced a little while back would make so much more sense) yes this is true. Well, truth be told this was his year. He convinced 1.5 million people to buy his album in its first week, so he deserves to be nominated...right? Jay-Z, Kanye, and Neyo each racked in 6 nominations.
