Mariah Carey Returning To The Studio + Cast In New Tyler Perry Movie

Mariah Carey's manager recently dropped some hints about Mariah's plans for her musical future. Seeing that her last album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel did not perform well on the charts and her remix album was shelved, it seems like Mariah is inspired to dust herself off and try again.

As her manager Chris Lightly puts it:

"We've released a few of Mariah's hot remixes on iTunes and Mariah's back in the studio working on some new surprises." source.

Not sure what we can expect from Mariah but I pray that it isn't some pop, Hip-Hop sound because it just doesn't agree with her soft voice. And the screaming that she has adopted lately is really a no go.

On a more brighter note, director/producer/screenwriter Tyler Perry revealed on the red carpet for the premiere of his new movie Why Did I Get Married Too that he has cast Mariah in his new movie For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf.

Other artists that will appear in the film will be Janet Jackson and Macy Gray.

The movie, which is based on a thought provoking play, is scheduled to begin shooting in NYC in June and has an anticipated release date set for late 2010 early 2011.

Video Premiere: Mariah Carey ft. Nicki Minaj 'Up Out My Face'

Here is the new video from Mariah Carey for her song "Up Out My Face" that features Nicki Minaj.

This was very...red; just perfect for the two fire signs.

The only thing that was missing was the dog from the Target commercials with the bullseye painted over its eye.

I have to say that I am very impressed with Nicki who has managed to land featured spots with some very established artists, good for her. Her voice had a little more bass in it, interesting.

By the way, hubby Nick Cannon directed the video which accounts for the marching band that appeared at the end of the video. His Drumline days came in handy I'm sure.

Nick Cannon & Mariah Carey's Christmas Card Photo

Hopefully everyone's Christmas was one to write home about or at least cause you to smile while you report back to work.

But no one enjoyed it more than Nick and Mariah who created a Christmas card to prove it.

I'll be honest, when I first found out that these two got married I nearly choked on the drink I was consuming only to regain just enough strength to utter "publicity stunt." Now that I see that they have been married for more than a year and appear to be happily in love, I actually am starting to think that this is true love and dare I say it...cute.

I wonder what we can expect for their new year's card if they decide to make one, my bid goes for something more naughty than nice, thanx!

YUMMY PIX: MARIAH CAREY & NICKI MINAJ ARE SUCH DOLLS

Here is a photo of Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on the set of their new video for Mariah's "Up Out my Face" single that features the female rapstress.

I'm interested to see how this video will come out. Both ladies are very prissy in a sense and don't seem to have much in common but hey, opposites attract.

Mariah's remix album for Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is set for release in early 2010 and is being boasted as a great recovery from the lack luster effort of the original LP.

As for Nicki, she and her entire crew, Young Money, released their collaborative album We Are Young Money yesterday.

Mariah Carey will perform on the Oprah Winfrey Show

Mariah Carey has announced that she will perform live on Oprah Winfrey's Show. The air date is set for Friday, September 18th.

Oprah must be getting first dibs on the singers that ruled the 90's because Whitney Houston is also scheduled to sit and chat with your O'ness on September 14th and September 15th for a two-part interview. They say Whitney will tell all, a must watch.

Mariah Carey's album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is set for a September 29th release.

New Music: Mariah Carey-I Want To Know What Love Is

Here is new music from Mariah (which is actually a cover) titled "I Want To Know What Love Is" from her new album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.

It hurts my heart to know that Mariah is not using her full vocal potential, or maybe she has used it all up. The song is nice, I just feel like she didn't take it there. The climax just seemed to have fallen flat.

The original was sung by Foreigner, a British-American rock band, and I feel the original should have remained untouched. This is the kind of song that is universally captivating no matter what the preferred genre of the listener is, but even after putting down my judge wand I still couldn't get into Mariah's version. But hey I'm sure the Mariah fans will love this, it is a bit of an improvement. I am still pulling for Memoirs.

Mariah Carey's album pushed-back...again

I am really starting to feel for Mariah with all of these excessive push-backs. It was announced yesterday that Mariah's album Memoirs Of An Imprefect Angel, has been pushed-back again. The new tentative date for release is September 29th.

To add more weirdness to Mariah's equation, she has gone ahead and canceled all of her TV appearances and her promotional performances. I'm guessing it is because of the push-back of the album and Eminem's diss track sure didn't help. I have reason to believe that this album will not see the light of day until the start of next year.

Yummy Quotes: Nick Cannon says....

In reference to Mariah and her Michael Jackson memorial performance that was rated a fail by the general public....

"To be able to see not only someone who influenced music and the world, but someone who was a close friend, to have to sit there and perform, it's just a little tough,"-via MTV.com
I was a little surprised to see that her performance caused such a stir. In my opinion, this was not the first time Mariah has sounded a little off pitch. I use to be a HUGE Mariah fan but this is when she wore her ultra curly hair and black turtle necks, so imagine my hurt when I realized that her voice had changed so drastically and not for the best.

She sounds a heck of a lot better than a lot of artists but let's be honest, Mariah don't have that vocal fire like she use to. That's neither here nor there, Mariah was supposed to be real and say yes I had an off-vocal day let a sister live instead of coping the I-was-emotional plea. Stevie Wonder, who knew Michael very well from eons ago, was able to pull through his set. Kudos to Nick for sticking up for wifey, you have to give him at least that.

Mariah Carey will premiere "Obsessed" video July 15th

Mariah made headlines last week when she sent out pics of her posing as Eminem in the video for her song "Obsessed". The song has been blowing up the radio and definitely has chart-topping potential.

Anyway, Mariah announced that the video for "Obsessed" will premiere on Wesnesday, July 15th on America's Got Talent which will air at 8/9 PM central time only on NBC.

Seems only right to premiere the video there since hubby Nick is the show's host this season; keeping the money in-house, there is no better way.

Music Rumors: Mariah Carey gears up to release diss record

Uh Oh, the gloves are off! Sources say that Mariah Carey, who is currently working on a new album titled Memoirs Of An Inperfect Angel, is rumored to release a diss track as her first single off of the album. Who is the diss track about? Some are saying that it will be a diss record aimed at Eminem.

If you can remember late last month, husband Nick Cannon took to his blog to call Em out for talking ish about his lady in his song "Bagpipes from Baghdad" implying that if he wanted to he could take Mariah back from Nick; you know, the usual blah blah blah's. Well, Mariah is not taking it sitting down and is getting revenge on the mic. The Dream confirms,

“The most anticipated is the Mariah project, and she just released a fire record in the building today. And we have been blasting it out all day. It’s just f**king retarded. I don’t think anybody is going to expect her to come out punching like she is going to come out. But she got a record.”

He continued, hinting at the content, “It’s going to light the blogs up too because you don’t know who she talking about, what she talking about, but she talking about something. And remember The-Dream told you first. So you can start that up right now. Mariah Carey has a record, and somebody’s going to be very upset. I said that.”-

All I can say is hmmm they make us 20-something-year-old's look like the elderly with their behavior.

Yummy Quote: Mariah Carey says....

In reference to why her first movie Glitter flopped....

"That movie was released on September 11th, 2001 – could there be a worse day for that movie to come out? I don’t think so,” she said. “I don’t even know that many people even saw the movie so I don’t think it’s the worst thing ever done....Glitter was a learning experience and I wouldn’t do it again if you paid me. But I didn’t have representation or anyone to tell me: ‘What you need is a great director’."
Most definitely, on that day a lot of people were not looking to catch a flick but blaming the heated mess that was Glitter on a tragic event is pretty low, no?

The film could have been released on Valentine's Day and it still would not have done well because it was a bad movie. Furthermore, the director is not the reason why you didn't fit the the mold of the character you played, which ironically enough was the role of singer. No worries, I'm sure the new movie "Precious" will make up for it.

Music News Rap-Up: Mariah Carey + Rihanna + Beyonce

Rihanna...

Rihanna
has been rumored to be working on a new album which will be her forth in her collection of released projects. Already confirmed appearances consist of Kanye West and new comer and Lil Wayne protege Drake. It has also been reported that Justin Timberlake will also dip his foot in this album. The all-star line-up for this project is making it a must have and the most anticipated album of the year. There is no album release date as of yet. Lets move on to...

Mariah Carey ....

Mariah, who announced that she was working on an album 2 months ago, has announced that she has enlisted the help of Timbaland to lend a helping hand and a talented ear to the production of the album. This will be interesting for 2 reasons; 1. Mariah and Timbo have very different sounds that can be a match made in heaven or a disaster and 2. Timbaland's beats are not the easiest to ride. Speaking of Timbaland, he will also be putting in some work on Rihanna's album. Last but not least there is...

Beyonce...

It has been officially announced that Beyonce will be premiering her video for her song "Ego" off of her album I Am...Sasha Fierce. The video will premiere online on Thursday (May 21st) at beyonceonline.com at 12:00 PM EST.

Video Premiere: Mariah Carey- Love Story

Here is a new video from Mariah Carey for her song "Love Story". This video was sent to me via email with very little info but there is one fact; it was directed by husband Nick.

I don't know what it is about these two, but they just don't do it for me. It's interesting, because I usually get all warm and fuzzy inside when I see couples showing affection to one another but for some reason when they act all lovey dovey I feel like throwing up. At any rate, it is really good to see Mariah happy and filled with joy.

What the song taught me was how much I can not stand Jermaine Dupri when he produces. Why can't he just produce a song without adding his set of ad-libs?! Enough is enough.

Video rating: A yummy C.

Video Premiere: The Dream ft. Mariah Carey-My Love

I see The Dream is on super promotion for Love vs. Money that's dropping tomorrow. Here is the new video from The Dream featuring Mariah Carey for his song "My Love".

This is one of my favorite songs off of the album. The beat and the melody has a nice ring to it. I see Mariah is getting in touch with her "urban" side these days I'll leave it at that because I adore Mariah.

Seeing that the door is wide open for a male R&B act to take the spot, The Dream is practically the only male R&B singer out right now (Chris Brown could've had it but by the looks of it his career is falling apart like an old wooden house) to fill it; so he will easily be the one people refer to as "the best".

I must say, Mariah use to take it there back in the day. She use to have that voice built for angels now it seems like she's trying too hard to have a big voice; it's like Beyonce has inspired every female singer to scream on a track. Mariah, keep it light and sweet.

I give this video a yummy B+ for getting Mariah in some cornrows and Jordans, yayyy Mimi!

Mariah Carey "Right To Dream"

Here is a new video from Mariah Carey entitled "Right To Dream" off of the movie soundtrack for Tennessee that she also stars in, which is due to hit theaters March 2009. The song was co-written with Willie Nelson and has a ballad like feel.

After Glitter you would think she would stay away from films but Mariah dusted herself off and decided to try again and she may just have nailed it. She appears to have taken acting lessons because I was really drawn into the video wondering what was going to happen next...kudos Mariah! It really was a relief not to see her patty cakes hanging out of a pair of cut-off shorts and great to see her boobs tucked away. Keep up the improvements Ms. Carey.

I give this video a yummy B+ for Mariah's "eye of the tiger" swag to officially add "actor" to her list of things-she-does...trying to get at least a nomination for an Academy Award eh? Join the congo line along with Bey and JLo.

R.I.P. TRL..True or False?

True. TRL will air for the very last time on Sunday, November 16th and will be entitled "Total Finale Live" *cue the violins*. Confirmed performances will be 50 Cent as the main hip hop performer as well as Beyonce, Backstreet Boys, and Fallout Boy.

Mariah Carey, Diddy, Ludacris, Nelly, and Snoop are also scheduled to make appearances. Good ol' Carson Daly will be returning to co-host with current host Damien Fahey. Personally, I believe the show fell apart after Daly's departure but with all good things they must eventually come to an end.

So grab the boxes of tissue and a seat in front of your television sets..or shall I say flat screens and tune in to the farewell episode of TRL. It is sure to be a tear jerker. (Sniff!)
