Omarion Gets A New Job As Judge On MTV's 'America's Best Dance Crew'

Omarion recently announced that he will be the new judge on MTV's hit dance show competition "America's Best Dance Crew."

Filling the seat of Shane Sparks, the judge that made headlines late last year after he was arrested on child molestation charges, Omarion will judge contestants on their dance skills and provide useful commentary.

The singer was obviously excited about the new opportunity saying that dancing is what he knows and he anticipates giving "creative feedback" to the talented contestants that will appear on the show.

This is great news for Omarion as his album Ollusion tanked horribly. Only selling 22,000 units in it's first week WAS a bit embarrassing.

Though some will say that Omarion's decision to urge his fans to instead give the money they would have used to purchase his album to the recovery efforts in Haiti (which was such a sweet and commendable thing to do), I doubt that anyone was really looking to spend their lunch money on Ollusion...I hope I said that nicely.

You can catch Omarion on ABDC when it premiere's on MTV on January 28 at 10pm ET/PT.

Album Review: Omarion's 'Ollusion'

Omarion returns with Ollusion – his first album in 4 years – looking to present a brand new man with the brand new sound.

The “Ice Box” singer has seen some success following an abrupt departure from his platinum-selling group B2K, but has since been able to hold his own as a solo artist. Omarion has succeeded in having two of his solo albums grace the number 1 spot; however, this new project may not be so lucky.

Ollusion is a collection of songs that focuses on showing Omarion’s grown and sexy side. There are no teeny-bopper tunes here as made very clear by the parental advisory sticker that sits pretty on the albums cover. Though Ollusion shows great production with a brief timeline (the 11-track album runs for no more than 38 minutes), none of the singles seem to sparkle on their own.

The album opens up with the lead single “I Get It In” that features incarcerated rapper Gucci Mane. The song plays on powerful drum patterns that are reminiscent of a college marching band. This single seems to be the most popular amongst his fans because of its heavy bass and quick pumping high hats.

OMARION'S ALBUM COMMERCIAL FOR 'OLLUSION'

Here is a commercial for singer Omarion's new album Ollusion.

I will give Omarion credit for creating a little hype but it honestly is more like a flicker. We have only gotten one single out of Ollusion with a video that was not even lukewarm.

If he wants to get people's attentions he better drop a ballad before the month pans out, because if he wants that album to sell more than 33K in its first week he has to give people who are not familiar with his work reason to buy this album.

Either that or show us some skin, I hear sexiness is a hot commodity in a recession.

OMARION SAYS BISEXUAL WOMEN HAVE NO CLASS

Omarion always appeared to be the quiet type, the type to keep his opinions to himself if he knew that it would hurt someone.

Boy was I wrong.

In a recent interview with S2S Magazine, when asked about his involvement with a bisexual stripper, Omarion said that dating bisexual women is not his style because he thinks bisexual women have no class.

VIDEO PREMIERE: OMARION FT. GUCCI MANE 'I GET IT IN'

Here is the new video from Omarion for his song "I Get It In" that features Gucci Mane. It was directed by Omarion himself.

The video was like a dry piece of bread with stale cheese, it lacked flavor and pow. It is worth mentioning that Omarion is taking a career risk and is very independent when it comes to his label situation, kudos to him for having his own imprint....that's all the positivity I got at the moment ~shrugs~.

Video Rating: A yummy C.

Album Covers: Omarion-Ollusion

Here is the album cover of Omarion's new LP Ollusion. The album has a release date set for November 24th.

Omarion is going to be up against some stiff competition as Mary J. Blige will be releasing her new album Stronger on the same day; not to mention the day before that, Rihanna (who has a whole lot of hype surrounding her album that doesn't even have a name yet) will be dropping her album.

He has done close to no promotion and the lead single caused a little firecracker of interest. If you are going to name your album something like Ollusion, why not give us a little more on the cover if the song is not doing much? Maybe I'm just missing something.

Music Rumor: Omarion signs with Lil Wayne

So....the rumor of the week is that Omarion has signed to Lil Wayne's label Young Money. It seems like Lil Wayne is forming his own musical conglomerate. He has the hot topic of the moment, Drake, signed to his label; plus, he has who I think will be the brand new face in the female spectrum of Hip-Hop, Nicki Minaj. Things are looking up for Lil Wayne.

Honestly, I feel that Omarion's time has passed. Unless he is about to come with some brand new ish that we have never heard or seen before, I think he needs to keep it to himself because all we need is more duplicates of something that worked in the past. I have this weird feeling that he is eyeing the auto-tune plug-in, I shutter at the thought.

  • F.Y.I.: Speaking of auto-tunes, Kanye West has decided to let the plug-in go and has promised to make his next album nothing but rap.

It also leads me to question if cutting off his locks turned out to be a bad idea. Let's be real, the only thing-if not the main thing-Omarion had going for him was his hair, he is not that great of a singer. Don't get me wrong he was pretty good in B2K but as a solo artist he's OK. I guess time will reveal the truth, is there really room for Omarion?

On the charts...
