Every now and again you hear rappers mention their significant others in passing. Some of us don't even know that a lot of the rappers we see today are married with kids. For example, I was absolutely baffled to learn that T-Pain was married and it surprised me when I found out that Ice Cube was married some time back.
Joe is one of the rappers that could careless about groupie love and more about his wife. Joe, who is gearing up to release his album J.O.S.E. 2 spoke about his new single "One" that was inspired by his wife and the key to having a successful marriage.
"One" is all about finding that special soul mate, and Joe said he looked to his happy marriage for inspiration.... It's inspired by life a lot. As I listen to it, I think about the relationship with my wife and how we came a long way. At the same time, it's every body's life. It's the working man's life. It's related to everybody. Everybody feels that way. We all want somebody."On the key to a lasting marriage,
It is always refreshing to hear a rapper talk about his love for his wife, much respect.
"A lot of work. Anybody who's successful a long number of years, it took a lot of work, perseverance to not quit, to not give up on each other and say, 'Yo, we love each other. We're going to be together forever.' Everybody that gets married hopes to be in love and be together forever, but you gotta work. It's real work. It's great, though."
Joe feels that his new album will allow fans and non-fans to get more insight into his style and sound and that it will finally earn him the respect that he feels is overdue.
The reason why Joe hasn't gotten the respect he deserves is because Joe is known to put out hot singles but the rest of the songs on the album could be better. A lot of artists spend days even weeks on conjuring the ingredients for a hot single and less time on perfecting their albums, big no no and a set up for failure.
Also, releasing just 1 single off of the album and expecting the album to go platinum in one week is unrealistic. Take T.I. for example, he had like 3 singles on heavy rotation on the radio before the album even dropped.
Singles do not make you an amazing artist, albums do; and if fans can not listen to your album from track one to the very last track on the album they are not going to be fans for long.
The album is said to have features from T-Pain, Lil Kim, and Lil Wayne.
J.O.S.E. 2 (Jealous One's Still Envy 2) is due in stores May 19th.
