What Ever Happened To The Group City High?

This was a question I asked myself when a music video for their song "Caramel" came on a couple of days ago on VH1's Soul channel.

My first thought was that the industry had finish having its way with them, meaning their light had been dimmed.

It happens; sometimes most groups don't have that staying power and are trends instead of classic artists. Most of the time, it ends up having nothing to do with the industry but more so their egos.

So like the universe usually does it, I get sent a video of Robbie Pardio - the gentleman photoed on the far right of the photo above - on an episode of A&E's show "Intervention."

Robbie is apparently an alcoholic and became an alcoholic after his career was placed on ice.

To my knowledge, City High was put together by Wyclef, who appeared in their videos and also produced most of their songs. After City High started to fade to black, Claudette Ortiz, the only female in the group, began appearing in songs with Wyclef separate from the group, until eventually her career faded to black.

She had such a pretty voice too.

I read that she too is an alcoholic, but I'm not sure if she appears in this program.

This is yet another reason why artists need to be in the healthiest state of mind when they sign their names on the dotted line. It is important to always have a back-up plan and not depend on others to keep their careers afloat because everyone is out for their own and their own only. Just because you came together does not necessarily mean you are going to leave together.

It may also have something to do with the fact that Claudette, who was his high school sweetheart, ended up marrying and birthing two sons for Ryan Toby - the guy on the far left of the photo.

Dramatic, I know.

Hopefully Robbie can get it together for his own sake.
