If all fails blame the producer. Jay-Z did an interview with Billboard.com and was asked about the song that started it all, "D.O.A.". According to Jay, Kanye West was the inspiration behind the creation of the song, go figure. Jay says,
If you ask me it took them too long to be up front and honest about the overuse of auto-tune, when it first came out I was begging for it to go away.
"He actually sparked the idea. When he heard the beat he said, 'Man, this is just so hard! This has to be against everything -- no auto-tune, none of that type of stuff!' He didn't know what I was going to do or where I was going to take it, but it was actually his fault."Turns out, Jay wasn't so adamant about getting rid of auto-tune. Before "D.O.A." came to be, Jay and Kanye recorded a record that used the plug-in. It wasn't until they heard the beat for "D.O.A." that they decided that the untimely ending of a Hip-Hop fad would have to happen sooner than later.
If you ask me it took them too long to be up front and honest about the overuse of auto-tune, when it first came out I was begging for it to go away.
Jay's album Blueprint 3 is due for release on September 11th. 50 Cent is said to be releasing his album Before I Self Destruct on the same day.
