R.I.P. Dolla

This is the reason why I say you have to be grateful for each and every day you wake up on this green earth. Atlanta Rapper Dolla whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot and killed in broad day light in Los Angeles at the Beverly Center shopping mall. An artist on Akon's label Konvict Musik, Dolla was shot in the head over what is rumored to be a female.

The incident occurred at 3:10 PM in the parking lot of the mall. Burton arrived from Atlanta to LAX and is reported to have gotten into a dispute with some people at the airport. The same people followed him to the said mall because they knew that he would be there. Dolla was in LA to continue work on his first album that was due out this summer on Jive Records. Dolla was 21 years old.

My prayers and positive vibes go out to his family during this trying time. I remember hearing about Dolla after he had done an interview on Power 105.1 where he spoke about his life and how he wanted to be a different rapper than the one's that are out right now. A pretty laid back kid, he was open about his life (which was tough growing up) and was really down to earth.

You do just about everything to get up out the bad neighborhoods to prevent situations like this from happening and they still follow; empathy is such a lost art. May he rest in peace.
