According to Billboard, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels a.k.a. the other half of Run DMC is set to host a reality show geared towards bringing forth aspiring artists who are interested in making it in the music business.
Now, this won't be your ordinary stereotypical rap reality show. The theme will be a positive one with certain restrictions that you would think would be normally unacceptable.
The artist's that participate in the reality series must create songs that do not consist of profanity, cannot degrade women or glorify violence, and must be universally accepted without listeners taking offense to it. Sounds simple.
Here's what Darryl has to say about it,
"The spirit of hip hop was always about changing the world or yourself, not with a gun or with denigrating or offensive words, but by being effective with your mind. This is a time when everyone is talking about change, and we as a country have the opportunity to make a difference."
This will be interesting.
I don't think it will be a tough task, there are an array of topics artists can talk about without doing any of the following listed restrictions. The television station that the reality show will air on has not yet been determined which isn't a good sign.
Hopefully, this reality show will come to life and not get scrapped as non-entertaining; it would be a reality show with substance, I know, an oxymoron!
