Every one is letting go of the lazy swag and are jumping back in the studios to put out music for the music fanatics. Case is one of those artists looking to make a comeback with his new album The Rose Experience due in stores March 24th.
If you are wondering who Case is, he is the R&B crooner who put out "Touch Me Tease Me" featuring Foxy Brown and my favorite "Happily Ever After" (by the way, the video for this song starred a very young Beyonce). Case recently sat down with EURweb to talk about his new album, his alter ego, and of most things shooting himself in the throat...ouch!!
On where he's been,
"It was a lot of stuff that went on. Originally I was going to take time off to spend time with the family; with the kids, and moved down to Atlanta to be closer to them. During that time I had started working on the album, doing little things here and there just trying to put all the pieces together....Then, I had an accident in ’02, where I accidentally shot myself in the throat, so that put things on home for a minute...After I came-to, the first thing I did was try to sing, that’s all I was really concerned about at that time.”
On his album and his alter ego,
"I have an alter ego, Blaxel Rose – the black Axel Rose [of the rock band Guns-N-Roses. He’s a little wilder than I may generally be. I wanted to have a little more fun and make the music sound lighter on this album and that’s more so a reflection on the other side of my personality....I worked hard on this album. I think they’ll enjoy it. It’s not too far from what I’ve been doing and what they’ve come to know me for."
Side Order: ~Sigh~ Is anyone else over the alter ego bit yet?!
Case was well liked in his day. His song "Happily Ever After" was the ish and it would be interesting to see if he could carry himself as a show stopping R&B singer this go around. Neyo is totally dominating the genre and until people can write quality music and perform it with that special umph there will be intense competition but just one successor.
At one point, people were thinking that R. Kelly was the reason why these other R&B men couldn't make it in the industry. With him out of the picture we'll see if Case, Ginuwine, and Avant amongst others can really cut it.
