Who's Samantha G?

I am a freelance writer/blogger with a love for entertainment and a penchant for being opinionated about it. I’ve always felt that I consumed music differently than others and usually used that to my advantage whenever the time called for it ;-P. The one thing that stuck out the most to me about music were the lyrics that made it whole. There was always an element within it that I often felt revealed a part of the singer’s character that could almost be compared to something untouchable, naked to the human eye. This of course, is if they penned it

My love of music quickly grew into something more than just a hobby. I began scribbling words and piecing them together, creating lyrics and making the beats with my fist and a table by the age of 10. I had no idea that I was actually writing songs. That eventually evolved into me dissecting, writing, and debating with like-minded music fanatics about why songs and albums were deemed classics or flops. That eventually was honed and manifested into MusicallyYummy.com.

I started MusicallyYummy.com the day after my birthday on October 17, 2008. At first, I was a little reluctant to do so mainly because I felt the net was saturated with blogs. But I figured if I brought something else to the table, people wouldn’t pass on what I had to serve in this thing called entertainment.

MusicallyYummy.com opened doors that I never even imagined, allowing me to contribute music columns, offering my uncensored opinions on Music Choice’s original show Certified, along with lending my written voice to various online entertainment sites.

I make it a priority to maintain honesty and to shelve jaded opinions about the artists that supply music to music fans. Though there may be favoritism among others, the only thing I’m concerned with is who is giving the fans a hit that they can use to reminisce, because that’s really all it’s about.

MusicallyYummy.com is still young – which means it has a lot to experience through its journey of growth; the same can be said about me the writer....

Now that the introduction is out of the way…how about we get to know me a bit more?

Five fun facts about me, Samantha G!

My favorite artist is…

Stevie Wonder. Stevie was probably the first R&B artist I was exposed to. His lyrics are genuine and so is his voice. The fact that he is so talented, despite lacking physical vision, originally piqued my interest and curiosity. I imagine that his view of music is so much deeper than most.

My restaurant obsession is…

Juniors. I’m a Brooklynite, born and raised, so naturally Juniors is an obsession. I have heard that the Cheesecake Factory has better cheesecake but I’m loyal. Plus, I graduated from my cheesecake addiction after buying my degree (isn’t that what tuition is?)…now, their strawberry shortcake talks to me every time I walk past their glass windows. I don’t know much about their food, never really cared, but ask me about their desserts and I’ll give you the full low down.

My sign is…

Libra, the only inanimate sign in the Zodiac and the best they could give us were some scales...appropriate for the one who balances, I guess. Some people have said that they don’t believe in astrology and I blame that mostly on the horoscope’s (which is much different from astrology f.y.i.) that appears on the back of newspapers. Astrology is just another way of understanding why people tick. It was also used as a way to maintain civilizations in earlier centuries before clocks and television came into the equation.

My favorite film is…

Love Jones. Need I say more? For those who are not familiar, I’ve got one word and two syllables for you; Netflix. Love Jones stars Nia Long and Lorenz Tate as two lovers who rush into their relationship only to part and eventually realize that it was more than just “kicking it.” Love Jones is considered a black cinema classic. The poetry element was just the cherry on top.

I found Hip-Hop…

By way of LL Cool J. LL was probably the first guy I ever had a crush on. The lip-licking baited me but songs like “Round the Way Girl” and “Mama Said Knock You Out” did the job of hooking me on to his songs and what Hip-Hop had to offer. He was like a gateway, like my Morpheus (The Matrix) to Hip-Hop.

That’s me in a nutshell.
