Review: I'm Addicted To 'Michael Jackson The Experience'

The very first time advertisements for Michael Jackson’s new game Michael Jackson The Experience began airing, I knew that I needed to get my hands on it along with many other fans I’m sure. It was initially only available for Wii in November 2010 but I didn’t get it until earlier this year.

But when I finally popped it into my Wii, I wasn’t at all prepared for the new addiction I would have to tend to. The game is literally hard to put down once you start. You do one song and then another and before you know it you’re trying to catch your breath, your arm is telling you to stop it already, and you’re still like "this is my last game" and it isn't...addictive, yes?

Here is the new video for Michael Jackson's single "Hold My Hand" that features Akon. This stands as MJ's first posthumous music video.

The video is pretty simple and the message is a familiar one that many fans have known Michael to display. There are moving montages of Michael hitting his signature stances and dance moves as well as photos that captured the late legend.

I like the song and think the video is a good fit for the message the track delivers.

Remembering Michael Jackson One Year Later [Videos]

The day I found out Michael Jackson passed away, I was in the bank getting my finances in order when I overheard a conversation between two bank tellers. One of the tellers had nonchalantly mentioned that she heard that Michael Jackson died. I automatically assumed that it was a homemade rumor only because in my mind (as crazy as it might sound) I didn't think it was possible.

NEWS // BET To Give Another Michael Jackson Tribute At This Year's Award Show

We all are well aware of the hot boiling mess that took place at last year's BET Awards. In an effort to pay homage to Michael Jackson who had passed away just 3 days before the award show was to take place, BET scraped half of their original performance line up to accommodate performances that would pay tribute to the King of Pop.

Though it wasn't so bad, it was a train wreck and BET is looking to redeem themselves.

According to Billboard.com, BET will dust themselves off and try again as they attempt to pay tribute to Michael again. It isn't clear how exactly they will do this but it was stated that the Jackson family will be in attendance again this year.

I feel BET got a little over their heads in a rush to be the first award show to pay tribute to Michael - which is why it didn't turn out so great.

Instead of having a bunch of weird dedication performances, it would have been cool to just fill the stage with music's hottest acts and have them perform a medley of Michael's classics together, while images and captured moments of Michael played in the background on a jumbotron.

Simple but also grand, that would have been heaven.

For me, I just haven't been satisfied with any of the Michael Jackson tributes besides the one for his memorial service.

Hopefully this tribute from BET will be different from the rest and blow us away...

Speaking of MJ, if you are in the New York area 103.5 KTU is making June 25th "MJ All Day." To commemorate the one-year anniversary of his death, the station will play the songs performed by Michael from his days as a Jackson 5 to the songs that marked his comeback.

Popcorn Moments: Michael Jackson & Lisa Marie Presley's Infamous MTV Kiss

On September 8th, 1994, Michael Jackson and his then wife Lisa Marie Presley (daughter of Elvis Presley) came out on stage at the MTV VMA's hand-in-hand for no reason at all.

At the time, Michael Jackson had been slammed with sexual molestation charges stemming from an alleged situation with a little boy, so my guess is that they did this to set the record straight about what he really likes.

Michael Jackson Makes History With New Multi-Millon Dollar Record Deal

Following the death of the proclaimed King of Pop, interest in Michael Jackson's persona and more so his music has skyrocketed. His albums ended up moving over 80 million units and selling over 12 million downloads posthumously.

Now, Michael can add another notch to his belt as his estate has landed the biggest recording contract in history.

Sony Records, Michael's longtime label, has inked a deal with Michael's estate guaranteeing up to $250 million in advances and other payments including a high royalty rate.

I just love royalties, that's where the real money is at. With it, MJ's estate will be making money practically forever. Which means that Michael's great, great grandkids will be paid just for being related.

10 albums (that will be released over a 7 year period) are said to come from the deal which will see the remastering of his hit songs and the availability of unreleased tracks.

The first project will be released in November of this year!

By the way, the soundtrack for his film This Is It is included in the deal...is that the sound of cash registers I hear in the background?

This might even open the doors to Michael's music appearing in films, television, video games, or maybe even theater.

Michael Jackson's Death Reenacted

Interesting stuff.

Here is a clip lifted from the new VH1 series Famous Crime Scenes that airs every Friday night. This episode depicted Michael Jackson's crime scene, reenacting the events that led up to the pop star's passing.

I watched the first episode of the show , which was about rapper Tupac's crime scene, and was very impressed.

With TV fanatics - myself included - head over heels in love with crime shows like CSI and reruns of Law and Order, Famous Crime Scenes may pull in the ratings.

New Music: Michael Jackson 'Another Day'

Here is new music from Michael Jackson titled "Another Day."

Though it is a very short snippet that sounds like it was chopped and pasted to make it 1 minute long, it has a nice sound to it.

It kind of reminds me of "Thriller", very theatrical.

VIDEO PREMIERE: SPIKE LEE'S TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON

Here is a new video that pays tribute to Michael Jackson using his song "This Is It" off of the soundtrack to the film that shares the same title. The video was directed by Spike Lee who also directed Michael's video for his song "They Don't Care About Us."


The video is very touching; nothing says sweet like snippets of when Michael was a young performer and seeing him smile.

It also captured images of Michael's hometown of Gary, Indiana.

I personally think that Spike needs to consider being a music video director. I think that he would be a great fit for the new direction videos have been heading with their theatrical effects.

Al Sharpton rewards Joe Jackson and says the world needs more fathers like him

Is it April fools already? It would have to be for this to hold any precedence. Imagine my surprise when I opened up an email that held this tidbit of information. Apparently, Rev. Al Sharpton presented Joe Jackson with an award for I guess being Joe Jackson.

The actual reason for the award was not presented according to the New York Daily News, but what Al said is what almost made me vomit roses like Kanye.

"The arrogance of [people] attacking a man for being a stern father," Sharpton said. "I wish we had more stern fathers - then we wouldn't be shooting each other up." -via NY Daily News.

Hmmm....uh....no.

Yes, having fathers in the lives of children is very essential for their growth and upbringing but the sterness is not the problem, it's Joe's greed but I humbly digress.

I mean, thanks Joe for the Jackson 5 but it really does stop there.

My problem with Al is that every time he takes one step forward he always finds a way to take two steps backwards. I personally admire Al Sharpton for his courage to stand up for issues that others tend to turn a blind eye to, but this right here is just embarrassing and one of the reasons why people have a hard time taking him seriously.

Michael has said on numerous occasions how much he disliked his father for his abusive ways. I for one am all for a good tap when a child is acting out of place, however, Joe took his @$$ whoppings to a whole new level; one that can loosely be compared to the kinds folks received living on the plantation, but again I digress.

Not to mention Joe's obsession with wanting to control their lives when they were well into ages where controlling needed to cease.

Al did a great job at Michael's memorial service but seriously that is where the praises needed to stop. At this point, Al needs to release his lips off of Joe's tush and send that man on his merry way. He has milked MJ's death enough.

In fact, the whole family got me side eyeing them. As soon as Michael is put in the ground all of a sudden everyone wants to resurrect their music careers and announce future projects after being missing from the limelight since jheri curls. Whatever.

It is official! I was a little skeptical when I got word that Janet Jackson would be appearing at this year's VMA's to perform a tribute to her brother Michael, but now that the promo is out I am officially amped.

The promo is really nice and creative. If this doesn't hype you up, I honestly don't know what will.

Michael Jackson tribute block party moved to Prospect Park in Booklyn, NY

The MJ tribute block party to commemorate Michael's 51st birthday (which would have been tomorrow) will go down in Brooklyn's acclaimed Prospect Park tomorrow August 29th, 2009. It will be thrown by famed director Spike Lee. Our Borough President Marty Markowitz--that spoke at my college graduation, he's a riot--will proclaim tomorrow "Michael Jackson Day".

I might drop by being that I will be in the area to see what the festivities have to offer, I do love me some Prospect Park...in the day time; once that sun goes down you will not see me near it, but I digress.

The weather is said to be a down pour but organizers assure that the event will occur come rain or shine. 10,000 people are said to make a turn-out. To my knowledge, the event will still start at noon and end at 5pm. Make sure y'all show your support, I hear Spike payed $11,000 to get the permit to hold the event in the park; now that's Brooklyn love.

Michael Jackson's doctor speaks out for the first time

Michael Jackson's controversial doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, posted a video up of him reassuring his patients that he is fine despite the closing of his medical practice and name slandering.

He also states that he is afraid to return his phone calls and check his emails...the MJ stans do not play huh?

As for Michael, he will be buried on his birthday August 29th. The funeral will be private and will take place in Glendale, Florida.

The decision to bury him on his birthday holds so much meaning.

What the media won't tell you about Michael

Before I received this information, I didn't even know that Michael Jackson recorded in Spanish at one point.

Apparently, Michael recorded a Spanish version of "I Can't Stop Loving You" and he also co-wrote and recorded in Spanish a single titled "What More Can I Do" a charitable single in response to the 9/11 attacks that featured appearances from Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and Justin Timberlake to name a few (there goes my die hard fan credibility).

Anyhow, before Michael's passing, the singer signed on to record yet another Spanish single for charity.

The single was to be dedicated to Smile Train Foundation, an organization that strives to provide free surgery for children in developing countries that suffer from cleft lip and palate. According to IMC Records chairman, Michael really wanted to do something for his Spanish audience and saw this as an opportunity to "express his love for Spain and the Spanish language".

As a result of Michael's passing, the project has been shelved but can once again go live if Michael's brother's perform the song to continue Michael's legacy. Most importantly, it would also still benefit the foundation.

The media seems to keep skipping over this bit of information; we understand, drama is so much more appetizing, right?

This week's SOTW is brought to us by Michael Jackson with his song "Rock With You". There is something about this song that is just priceless in more ways than one. Maybe it's just me, but when ever this song comes on, it brings joy to my heart, literally.

I got my hands on an unreleased track by Michael Jackson titled "A Place With No Name". I'm not sure where it was supposed to appear but it was reported that he was working on an album at the time of his passing.



The snippet is played over and over again so the looping is understandably horrid. Either way, it is great to hear Michael's voice on some new material, I literally can't get the hook out of my head. Make sure you get your listens because I am sure his label is stripping this song down off the net left and right as I type.

Speaking of Michael, sources are reporting that the LAPD are now treating Michael's death as a homicide [read here]. As the days get newer it seems like his passing unlocks a whole lot of deep rooted things no one knew existed, tsk tsk.

Bill O'Reilly wants you to know that he is sick of the Michael Jackson coverage

Oh yeah, and he even goes into saying that the black community is ridiculous for glorifying Michael because he did not want to be black. Looks like Bill and his two Fox bunnies had a tall glass of haterade before going live; you can still see some of the green liquid dripping down the sides of their mouths; oh no, I'm sorry that's just envy.

I posted this video not to fill people with hate but just so that you can see what hate really looks like and how ugly it really is, even the greats don't get the respect they deserve.

Either way, even though I don't agree with it I respect their opinions . It's not their fault that they are unhappy with themselves and therefore because they have a camera and a salary they can say and do as they please.

They actually are not the one's that concern me; I personally feel for the people who do not have a mind of their own that digest these types of materials to make their minds up. If it isn't clear, Fox news is on it's way out and they don't even know it yet. I can only hope for individual thinking ~shrugs~ you win some...then you ignore the rest.

A King is laid to rest while his music is given a brand new light

Today Michael Jackson was given a send-off that was on point and well deserved. There isn't a person on this earth that can dispute the fact that Michael was a great artists in the brightest sense. Michael brought forth an amazing movement in music that hasn't been topped since it's birth.

His music is the truth but the person behind it is even truer. Not too many people understand the essence and important elements behind music that is good. I'm not talking about OK music or music that is acceptable, I'm talking about music that embodies the long lasting intensity to be enjoyed even after it has been played time and time again.

You see, when Michael performed, he didn't just sing the song to sing the song; he felt every last lyric he sang. He performed with every bone in his body and it wasn't just for the pay he was to receive after the performance but for his inner love for music.

The media is going bonkers using headlines like "King of Pop Dead" and "Michael Jackson Dead at 50" to evoke somber emotions.

Honestly, I don't believe that Michael is dead. Michael had such an everlasting energy that he cemented in his music. We as music fans will continue to play his music not due to his death but because they are genuinely good music. Because we will continue to listen and play his music we won't forget his legacy and all that he stood for. Michael did more than leave behind his music, he left behind his signature moonwalk, no one can argue that Mike created, patented, and sold us that dance; and because of that, Michael will continue to live on in our memories and most importantly in our hearts.

He was more than just a performer or singer, he was an Entertainer that devoted his time and energy to his fans. Michael had star power that was unparalleled to the average performer. He created his own style and sound and changed the way performers performed. We have him to thank for the dancing mavens like the Chris Brown's, the Usher's, and even the Diddy's in music. His music was his life's gift to us and as repayment we will always be grateful when we press play and sing a long to a Michael Jackson classic. May he rest in peace with pride.
