Pattie Labelle and Quincy Jones honored by Apollo Theater

The acclaimed Apollo Theater turns 75 this year and with it's birthday it will welcome music legends into their Hall Of Fame. It has been announced that Pattie Labelle and producer/composer Quincy Jones will be inducted into the Apollo Theater Hall Of Fame.

They will also award Bill Cosby and his wife Camille with the arts and humanitarian award at the June 8th gala benefit concert.

Tapped to perform for the event is Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Anita Baker, and The O'Jays (If you don't know you better ask somebody). The event will be hosted by Steve Harvey.

The Apollo Theater has become a pillar of the Harlem community since it's beginning in the early 1900's; it's name has been lingering since the mid-1800's. Standing as the launch pad for many artists that went on to become legends such as Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, and many many more; it is still a dream of many up and coming performers to stand on the Apollo stage to sing their hearts out and get discovered.

Lyfe Jennings also got his start on the stage of Apollo's amateur night.
