You Won't See Adele's Boobs or 'Bum' Anytime Soon, She Says

Ever since I got my ears on Adele's new LP 21, I can't seem to shut up about her. It's just that I was so taken by her voice and her lyrics on her album that I feel humbly obligated to spread the word about the Brit to those who are still unfamiliar with her.
Anyway, Adele is Rolling Stone's cover girl for their latest issue set to hit newsstands this Friday (April 15) and inside the mag, the "Rolling In The Deep" singer opens up about how 21 was inspired by her break-up with her boyfriend, her stage fright, and her fluctuating weight.

The most interesting part of the interview is when Adele speaks on shedding her clothes for fame. According to the singer, you will not be seeing her boobs or her "bum" anytime soon because she makes music for your ears not your eyes.

"Adele has no beef with other female recording artists who choose to flaunt their bodies. 'I love seeing Lady Gaga's boobs and bum,' she says. 'I love seeing Katy Perry's boobs and bum. Love it. But that's not what my music is about. I don't make music for eyes. I make music for ears."

Ouch! Lady Gaga Falls Off Piano In Concert (Video)

Lady Gaga was performing in concert on Sunday in Houston, Texas when she took a tumble on stage.

The singer had one leg on her piano bench and the other on her piano when she lost her balance and fell in the middle of her performance of her single “You and I.”

Gaga was mere inches away from hitting her head but still hopped back up and continued on with her performance as if it were part of the act.

Glad she avoided injury, but the sound that piano made as she went down was just...

Review: I'm Addicted To 'Michael Jackson The Experience'

The very first time advertisements for Michael Jackson’s new game Michael Jackson The Experience began airing, I knew that I needed to get my hands on it along with many other fans I’m sure. It was initially only available for Wii in November 2010 but I didn’t get it until earlier this year.

But when I finally popped it into my Wii, I wasn’t at all prepared for the new addiction I would have to tend to. The game is literally hard to put down once you start. You do one song and then another and before you know it you’re trying to catch your breath, your arm is telling you to stop it already, and you’re still like "this is my last game" and it isn't...addictive, yes?

It is a bit different than how you used to follow Michael’s moves while watching him on TV and that’s because it’s far better.

Now, if you’re the type of person that likes to plant your hind parts on your couch and swing your arms hoping it will suffice and abhor breaking a sweat or two, this game might be a bit much for you. But if you are the total opposite of the aforementioned, be ready to get MJ’ed.

Though most of the game sees you the player performing the moves you see Michael perform on screen (in the game, he is considered a mirror reflection of yourself and you have to copy his every move), there are some songs such as “Dirty Diana” and “Beat It” that is duo (for duets) and can be played with a second player.

Visually, the game passes the test that I’m sure Michael would OK, as we all are aware of his attention to detail. The preciseness of the dance moves rely mostly on how in sync you move with his signature sparkly white glove. And you are rated on a star scale that ranges from 1-5.

I’ve gotten all of the songs down pack; however, the dance moves for “Remember the Time” is truly no damn joke.

My only gripe with Michael Jackson The Experience is that sometimes the game doesn’t pick up on the accuracy of a dance move and trust when I say, I, along with others that play it, hit those marks.

Overall, the game is worth every penny and I could see this being a trend among artists who decide to release dance video games – surprisingly an untapped market among music artists.

Though Michael Jackson The Experience debuted exclusively as a game for Wii, today (April 12) the game is now available for XBOX 360’s Kinect and PlayStation 3’s PlayStation Move.

Keri Hilson takes it off for Allure Magazine's Naked Truth series.

We all know how Keri likes to get in touch with her feminine side even if that feminine side sees her thrusting her hips or licking doors. (BTW, we have Lauriann Gibson to blame for that “The Way You Love Me” video, I’ve learned)

Hilson went bare for Allure for their recent Naked Truth series and talked about dealing with the pressures and demands of being a woman in the public eye.

Before all her hit songs, Hilson worked behind the scenes as a successful songwriter. Stepping out of the background was not as effortless as Hilson, 28, now makes it look. "The transition to being in front of the camera was very, very difficult," she says. "Everyone has their idea of what you should look like.' You need to get into the gym.' 'You need to wear less clothes.' 'Wear dresses and skirts.' 'Put a weave in.' 'Cut your hair.' 'Color your hair.' There are so many ways that others tug at you." To Hilson, posing naked stripped her back down to her real self. "We do a lot of things to seek validation: I have to get more expensive handbags or fake lashes or fake boobs. This shoot was about dropping all that."

Well, the demand for wearing less clothes can be checked off the list.

[NEWS] Mathew Knowles Admits Split With Beyonce Was 9 Months In The Making

Beyonce's father and ex-manager, Mathew Knowles, says his departure as Beyonce's manager wasn't an overnight decision.

Of course we all knew that it would be un-character like for the Knowles-clan to wake up one morning and decide they no longer were interested in working with one another over grits and juice.

Those few months in 2010 where there were rumors floating around about Beyonce and her dad parting ways in business, turned out to hold more weight than people wanted to admit.

Though people have leaned toward assumptions that Beyonce dumped Mathew because of his very public paternal drama last year, Mathew hints that Beyonce was just interested in managing her own career.

From an interview with Black Enterprise:

After 20 years working as a successful team, you and your No. 1 artist—daughter Beyonce—decided to part ways. As her father and manager; will not having her under your wings be a difficult transition for you?

Interesting enough the transition started way before the official announcement. If you’re strategic, which we are, you don’t make a decision like that before you start dialogue. That dialogue started nine months ago. At the end of the day, I’m Beyonce’s father first and her manager second. Remember, this is 20 years I’ve been doing this. She’s almost 30 years old and if she says, "I want to run my business," I think she’s smart enough that she will get the right team. Beyonce is smart enough to know what she knows and what she doesn’t know, and that takes an even smarter person to admit that. And she knows she can call me anytime. It takes a lot of hours and a lot of staff to run the business of Beyonce. (Laughs)

It will be interesting to see what direction Beyonce takes her career with this new album scheduled to drop this summer. I wonder if those rumors about Jay-Z managing her career has any truth to them?

Beyonce Set To Release New Album In June -- Bad News For Female Artists, No?

After deciding to take a year off to do normal people things like travel the world, shop at upscale boutiques, and receive $350,000 Christmas gifts from hubby -- you know the usual normal people stuff -- news has been released that Beyonce will be making a return to music with a new album slated for release in June.

According to other sources, the singer has already begun shooting a video for the first single off the new album. So fans will be getting an eyeful of visuals from Beyonce sooner than they think.

With the release of this news paired with my curiosity, I wondered: Are other female artists biting their nails yet?

It's no secret; Beyonce dominates the charts with her albums and her singles.

Many might debate that her singles don't qualify as good music but it would be foolish to turn a blind eye to her devoted stan fan base that are willing to spend their lunch money on an LP with Beyonce's name on it.

When she was practically everywhere for most of 2009 and everybody gave a collected annoyed sigh every time her name was mentioned or her face was plastered on a billboard advertisement, people begged her (and no, I'm not exaggerating) to get out of their faces and out of their lives...paraphrased of course.

So she did.

And you would think with her absence that there would be other female artists eager to step up to the plate and be just as great or even better. Some of them did and were but others failed miserably.
So that would mean either two things:

1. They just aren't as talented or marketable to create what Beyonce has managed to build.

Or

2. They were slacking and rushing their efforts more interested in just a hit and not a cult classic hit.

I'm going to go with number 2 simply because as a rehabilitated slacker, I can relate.

During Beyonce's hiatus, some of these female artists released albums and songs that I'm sure they thought would be good.

It didn't help that there was already an ideal blueprint of an artist set in stone, but still they attempted. Some of them tried to step out of the box and succeeded in their own circles while others kicked that box, created a new one, then ripped it apart by trying too hard.

Now, a new Beyonce album could prove a few things. She could release the LP and it could fail horribly. We've seen it happen with big named artists before, sometimes they are victims of their own fames and rely more on their names than their talents to stay relevant.

But then there is a chance that this could be the biggest album for the singer, solidifying herself as a modern day icon. And right now, we are running short of icons.

This is not to say that there aren't female artists in music today who aren't more talented than Beyonce with better albums and better songs.

For instance Adele, who I never paid much attention to in the past, released a stellar album, 21, in which every song on the LP was a classic hit, movie soundtrack potential even. She will surely be Beyonce's competition at next year's Grammy awards because Adele will more than likely receive upward of over 10 nominations (I predicted it first!).

However, while Adele is a great singer and songwriter, Beyonce is an entertainer, and for those who prefer those bells and whistles when it comes to their artists (and believe me they are the ones who are buying music), they will most likely want to flock to Beyonce than anyone else.

So should other female artists be nervous for Beyonce's return? Not if they're ready to be better.

And by better I mean pull out the big guns and come with creative and even thematic albums where even the album fillers have potential of being chart toppers. Whatever they do, it will be interesting to see who's bold enough to share Beyonce's album release date.

Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Katy Perry are the first round of performers confirmed to take to the stage at the Grammy Awards.

Cee-Lo has also been confirmed as a performer.

Leading the pack for the night will be Eminem who has a comfortable 10 nominations on the table while Gaga follows close behind with 6.

The 53 Annual Grammy Awards are scheduled to air Sunday, February 13, 2010 at 8/9c on CBS.

A snippet of Foxy Brown's diss record to Lil Kim titled "Massacre" has leaked online.

The track that was originally scheduled to drop Christmas Eve was reportedly postponed because Brown was mourning the lost of a friend.

Because it's a snippet I am going to reserve my thoughts till I hear the entire thing. But just judging on what is offered, this one was probably better off not being released at all.

Though some people will slam Foxy for coming at Lil Kim with this stale beef, I see exactly what Foxy was thinking. There's no better way to get your name back out there than to team up with what's hot right now. Being that Nicki Minaj is the talk of the town and is openly beefing with Kim, the wise thing to do would be to be in Minaj's corner, hoping for a collaboration...of course without seeming like that's the motive.

Unfortunately, I think Nicki is too busy being famous to be bothered *shrugs*.

Those who are fond of old school hip hop are about to get a yummy treat. Pioneering hip-hop duo, Salt-N-Pepa, have announced the dates for their Legends of Hip-Hop tour.

The 20-city tour that is set to kick off February 4 in Cleveland, Ohio and wind down on April 4 in Atlanta, Georgia will also include veterans such as Slick Rick, Biz Markie, MC Lyte, Kurtis Blow, Doug E. Fresh, and Naughty By Nature to name a few.

The Legends of Hip-Hop tour will also commemorate the 25th anniversary of Salt-N-Pepa's Hot, Cool & Vicious - their 1986 debut album.

Video Premiere: Snoop Dogg 'Wet'

Here is the new video for Snoop Dogg's song "Wet." This song appears on Snoop's upcoming album Doggumentary Music.

The video that is blue lit shows women in...well, wet situations. With a pool and shower scene, plus what seems like an orgy-like setting, this video might just get banned.

I actually liked Snoop's track "Sensual Seduction" where he uses my arch-enemy, auto tune, but this song doesn't really compare. But because Snoop is so smooth, there is some potential of this song growing on me.

Marsha uses the video for "Far Away" to pay homage to the LGBT community by raising awareness concerning the bullying members of the community experience because of their alternative lifestyles. It's a beautiful song and conscious video.

[NEWS] Nicki Minaj's 'Pink Friday' Certified Platinum

A lot of people (admittedly, including me) didn't think it could happen but it has. According to the RIAA website and various reports, Nicki Minaj's debut LP, Pink Friday, has been dubbed Certified Platinum with 1 million albums shipped.

Pink Friday was released on November 22, 2010 and sold 300,000+ copies in its first week.

Certified Platinum in 2 months, not bad for a rookie.

I wasn't a huge fan or even a little bit of a fan of the album, but I guess that's just the power of stanmanship.

Video: Behind The Scenes Of Lil Kim's 'Black Friday'

A video capturing the making of Lil Kim's video for her diss track "Black Friday" has surfaced online showing the petite rapper using the backdrop of Brooklyn for her latest release.

Kim really took it back to the hood with this one. I think she was filming some of the scenes in the projects if I'm not mistaken.

A gang of people followed behind her as she filmed and they seemed just as amped as she was.

Looking at the positive in all of this, at least she's working again.

Video: Jay-Z and Kanye West Really Know How To Party

I love candid videos of celebrities for many reasons, but mainly because we get to see celebrities be themselves and not equipped with PR placed statements and smiles... although I do love me some publicists :-).

Jay-Z and Kanye West were captured on video at the Marquee in Las Vegas for the after party for Jay's New Year's Eve concert at the newly opened Cosmopolitan hotel. With bottles of Ace of Spades in their hands and while taking sips straight from the bottle, Jay and Kanye performed "Monster" and "Runaway" ...tipsy of course.

Kanye even dropped hint that he and Jay's collaborative album Watch The Throne is coming in one week. Judging by the hearty laugh Jay did, I have reason to believe that the liquor was talking...we'll see.

Rihanna was also briefly captured in the video showing much personality, I love it!

Jazmine Sullivan Says She's Taking A Break From Music

Apparently, Jazmine caught the celebrity twitter fever and went on a 140 characters or less confession about how she's ready to take a break from music.

According to the tweets (that were later deleted, classic), Jazmine explained how she wanted to find out who she is without a mic or pen in her hand and that she promised herself that once she felt creating and recording music wasn't fun anymore, she would stop.

The deleted tweets read,

"i’m making an official announcement that i am taking a break from music. i’m trying to figure out who i am… w/out a mike, paper or pen. i promised myself when it wasn’t fun anymore i wouldn’t do it. and here i am.

i’m not saying i wont ever sing again in my life becuz i dont believe that. but in this moment… rt now… i got some things to figure out.

i love u all and appreciate u soooooo much. u have no idea how much u’ve inspired me and fed my ego. but the truth is that i have to believe in me whether you all do or not. and thats what i’m lookin for. that belief in myself. me. I. i love us. thanks for being here for me and riding with me on this journey. let us continue."

According to reports, the sales from her sophomore effort Love Me Back were low. The album sold 57,000 copies in its first week and charted at number 17 on Billboards Hot 200. But this isn't that big of a drop from her debut LP Fearless which sold 67,000 the first week of its release.

Jazmine needs to stick it out. It was her sophomore album which means things will only get better. Throwing in the towel instead of meeting that challenge to do better the next time around isn't commendable. But if she needs time off to "find herself" which probably means supplying even better music, by all means break out that flashlight.

Interestingly, a track titled "I'm Not A Robot" from Jazmine leaked soon after those tweets and the lyrics are in close relation to her situation. [Listen]

Lil Kim To Nicki Minaj: 'You Ain't Taking Nothing From Me' (Video)

Lil Kim is still filled with venom and it's still being preserved for Nicki Minaj.

At a recent show over the New Year's Eve weekend, Lil Kim took to the stage to perform some of her old classics along with her new diss track "Black Friday."

Before hopping into "Black Friday," Kim gave a speech about how she and Mary J. Blige would be coming for Keyshia Cole and Nicki because of Keyshia's song "I Ain't Thru."

A few questions:

Did I miss something?
Was "I Ain't Thru" a diss track?!
And why do I get the feeling that Mary is on her grown woman sh*t and don't have time for these type of industry soap dramas?

Don't get too excited though, Kim's camp later released a press release stating that the assumption that Kim and MJB have a track prepared for a release is just that, an assumption.

Anyway, Kim with the help of her hyper audience let the record stand that Nicki will not now or ever be taking her spot...her words, I'm just paraphrasing.

Is it time for them to just let this go?

Beyonce was on hand to help ring in the new year with her hubby Jay-Z at the grand opening of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Vegas New Year's Eve. With Coldplay's Chris Martin on the keyboard, Beyonce performed her song "Halo" off of her album I Am... Sasha Fierce and also assisted Jay with his song "Young Forever."

Video: Kanye West Behind The Scenes Of 'All Of The Lights' Video Shoot

A clip of Kanye West on the set of his video shoot for "All of the Lights" has surfaced online.

Though the clip shows very little and leaves a lot to the imagination, we can assume that the video will be a bit on the dark side, what with him shooting a scene in a dark alley. I wonder if all of the artists on the track will make an appearance in the video. We already know Rihanna's in the video.

I'm feeling a little off after watching his "Monster" video even though I've grown to expect the unexpected from this man. I know some people have labeled West's video as artful, but people act like art and its creator can't be crazy too *shrugs*.

2011 is going to bring some really big things in music...well at least my fingers are crossed hoping that sentiment comes true. Adding to those big things, Chris Brown has confirmed that he and Bruno Mars will be teaming up on a new song.

"ME and BRUNO MARS are doing an incredible record soon… (like 2011 ELVIS and MICHAEL) gonna be a movie!!!!" Chris tweeted.

Bruno Mars, who is currently number 1 on Billboards Hot 100, has the golden touch when it comes to songwriting and recording. So the possibilities of what is to come from this collaboration is endless.

Chris is also set to release a new single featuring Justin Bieber on New Year's Day.

As for Chris' New Year's Resolution, the now controversial singer is vowing to keep his mouth shut when people try him, following the blown out of proportion feud he and B2K's Raz-B got into.

Raz-B set the bait and Chris took it. Chris was supposed to ignore that boy just like this...

As many may know, Katy Perry has been sitting pretty for three consecutive weeks at number one with her single "Firework."

Bruno will have to watch out, however, as all of the singles Perry has released off of her Teenage Dream album have managed to top the charts. With news that she is set to make "E.T." her next single, Mars may not be number 1 for long.

Lauryn Hill kicked off her tour in Brooklyn Tuesday night (December 28). Hill was supposed to perform at New York's Highline Ballroom but thanks to an insane blizzard that crippled the city and caused all types of friggin chaos, the show had to be rescheduled.

Though her set was well received, RollinStone reports that Lauryn was a bit tardy...no, really tardy. The doors opened at 8pm, but Lauryn didn't take to the stage till midnight.

Among the fans were Prince and Janelle Monae who were both in town for a concert at Madison Square Garden.

In one of the videos below, Lauryn performs a rendition of "I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingos right before she launched into the Fugees track "Zealots"-which samples the aformentioned.

So it seems the unfinished video for Kanye West's "Monster" leaked online and I was able to get my hands on it. Look fast, this might be pulled off within hours.

The video consists of closeups of Kanye's lips and grill, Nicki Minaj giving herself a lapdance, women hanging from their necks, little girls with no pupils playing double dutch in a room full of books, people eating each other, and Kanye holding a severed head among other things.

You can tell this isn't the official completed video because there are scenes that have getty image watermarks on it, but it wouldn't be too crazy to believe that the completed version will look similar to this.

Here is new music from Alicia Keys titled "Speechless" that features Eve. They say that this track is a part of Swizz Beatz's Monster Mondays (a series of free MP3's released weekly) and that the song was inspired by Alicia's fascination with her son.

Eve also appears on the track, such a breath of fresh air to hear her voice. This marks the second single (first one being Eve's "Gangsta Lovin") that sees the two ladies collaborating.

A couple of months ago, Alicia blogged about how her son, Egypt, brought her so much joy and how she would spend hours staring at parts of him in awe at his creation. She also hinted that she would be penning a song about the moment...she held true to that.

The song is hot! Soulful of course and the lyrics are genuine. Some may have their appointed feelings about Alicia and that's fine, but the song is yummy.

[NEWS] DMX Moved To Mental Health Unit

According to reports, rapper DMX has been moved to a mental health unit in Arizona.

I've had my reservations about DMX's mental health for a while even before his recent arrests, but I'm a bit happy that now others in power are starting to see the same. DMX was reportedly placed in the mental health unit at an Arizona State Prison complex last Monday (December 20).

At sentencing, the judge who sentenced DMX to a year in jail after he violated his probation, believed that he had an "undiagnosed mental health disorder." So it would seem she took it upon herself to get him some help instead of deciding to dump him back in jail like all the rest.

DMX's record reads like a score card with him being incarcerated 13 times, arrested 25 and raking in 11 felony convictions among other things.

Hopefully he will get better with some evaluation because something really has to change, he does have a family.

Forbes has released their list of the highest earners of 2010 and Beyonce made the top 10, coming in at number 9.

According to Forbes, Beyonce earned an impressive $87 million this year.

Jay-Z Will Pocket $1 Million For New Year's Eve Gig

Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but getting paid while I usher in a New Year is not a bad way to start 2011. Jay-Z shares the same sentiment and will be doing just that when he performs at the Cosmopolitan Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on New Years Eve.

The $25 million celebration that was announced earlier this summer will see Jay entertaining 2,500 guests and banking a cool $1 million for his performance. Coldplay, who are also on the roster, will also receive $1 million for their performance.

It's no wonder Jay had little hesitation with dropping $350,000 on a Christmas gift for Beyonce.

Chris Brown and Justin Bieber are also jumping on the New Years Eve bandwagon with the announcement that they will premiere their new song at the stroke of midnight.

Chris took to his Twitter Christmas day to announce that he and Justin's new single will help ring in the new year.

"ME and @justinbieber got a BANGER/SMASH record for all the fans out there at the top of the NEW YEAR!!! 2011."

It will be interesting to see if Chris will play on his pop sound or if Justin will take a walk on the R&B side. We'll soon see.

[NEWS] Teena Marie Passes Away At The Age Of 54

According to reports, singer Teena Marie has died.

The singer was reportedly found dead at her home by her daughter earlier this morning (December 26). Marie's manager made the announcement about the singer's passing via his Twitter.

The cause of Marie's passing has yet to be revealed but it was mentioned that the singer suffered a seizure last month.

Teena Marie rose to stardom in the late 70's early 80's and was best known in the R&B community for her duet "Fire and Desire" with the late singer Rick James.

One of Teena's last tweets was a Sarah Vaughan quote that read "May you never get old and may I never die"...

Lil Mama just can't win. The petite rapper appeared as a special guest at Chris Brown's "All Black Christmas Extravaganza" at New York's Webster Hall this past Thursday (December 23). When she attempted to entertain the crowd with a little freestyle, they seemed to not be fans of her words and booed her, in her own hometown no less.

Like the lady she is, Lil Mama countered the "hate" by saying "Once you lose something that's pure and as deep as your mother, nothing can't faze you. I love ya'll and the same ni***s that hate me, made me great B."

Lil Mama was referencing her mother who succumbed to breast cancer in 2007.

There are just a few days left in good old 2010 but that doesn't mean there's no room for a little beef in cafe Musically Yummy. Our waitress for today is rapper Ms. Jade who will be serving up some beef with Missy Elliot.

The Philly-born rapper visited the Star and Bucwild show for an interview in which Missy Elliot's name was brought up along with speculation that she may have stolen Ms. Jade's style.

If you are a little fuzzy on who Ms. Jade is, she released her album Girl Interrupted in 2002 but you probably know her best from her single "Ching, Ching" that featured Nelly Furtado. Ms. Jade also appeared on the remix for Beyonce's "Diva."

When asked if Missy jacked Ms. Jade's round-the-way-girl look, Jade concurred stating that Missy not only took it, but "ran all the way down the street with it."

In her words,

"When I first came out, my persona was kind of like, the round-the-way girl with the Adidas sweatsuit and bamboo earrings," Jade said. "[Missy Elliott] took that and ran all the way down the street with it. And you know, as a new artist, it looks like I'm copying from her but actually, it's the other way around. She took the same exact picture [of me posing in a baseball cap sideways] -- Missy Elliott swagger jacked me."

An early Christmas gift has arrived for the music lovers in all of us, preferably those who are nostalgic and still mumble Lauryn Hill when quizzed about who they think is one of the best.

Billboard reports that Lauryn Hill has announced tour dates for her intimate North American tour that will see the reclusive singer kicking off her first show as soon as next Monday (December 27).

Hill revealed in a statement that she "may never play venues of this size again," practically putting the nail on the speculation that those tickets will sell like hot cakes.

The set list will primarily be made up of songs from Lauryn's Grammy award-winning LP The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

The "Ex Factor" singer's tour will start in New York at Highline Ballroom and wind down in Montclair, New Jersey February 4th.

Some fans have yet to look past Keri Hilson's raunchy performance in her video for her song "The Way You Love Me"; therefore, the girl has to come up with new answers when asked about it.

In a recent interview with MTV when asked if she was surprised by the reaction she received after the video made its debut, Keri explained that the song is meant to be "empowering" and isn't about her being promiscuous but about her being with one guy for one night and telling him how she wants it...paraphrased of course.

In her words,

"In that record I'm talking about one guy, I'm talking about one night and this is what I want on this one night, and I'm not afraid to say it," she explained. "Not just sexual, I just mean whatever — open your mouth. That's empowering to me. That's what the song is about."

I'm not even sure if anyone was able to pay attention to the lyrics while watching the video, I know I wasn't. Plus, the song isn't all that great to even want to lend my ears to the words.

I think the problem with the video was the fact that it was a brand new Keri that none of us were exposed to. And to be honest, she really didn't need to reinvent herself or better yet go down that route. She always came off as a class act and her performance in the video was a thrust away from being a scene from a late night Cinemax movie.

Keri emanates a natural sexual aura, much like Ciara. Keri could just stand there and jaws will drop. But when her sexy is forced, the opposite happens.

She was better than that video, end of story.

Keyshia Cole Admits That 'I Aint Thru' Was A Bad Choice For Her Lead Single

It seems one of Nicki Minaj's many collaborators are having a change of heart after having her on their single.

Singer Keyshia Cole recently spoke with the Associated Press about her new album Calling All Hearts that was released yesterday. The album that has been described as soulful might have been given a bad first impression thanks to Keyshia's lead single, "I Ain't Thru."

According to Keyshia, her label disagreed with her decision to release "I Ain't Thru" as her lead single because they knew that her fans wanted the usual Keyshia who puts out soulful and relatable songs. But she felt she needed to make a statement with "I Ain't Thru."

In her words,

"The label didn't really want to drop the record because they knew ... that people wanted a more intense, soulful record from me about love and I really should have followed (their) direction," she said. "But I wanted that to be a statement record. It's like saying, 'I'm doing me, you know. I don't have no regrets for nothing that I'm doing.'" [Source]

I guess I'm just a bit lost because I didn't really feel Keyshia had anything to prove. When she released the single and I heard the lyrics, I was trying to figure out what was the point of the song. It's kind of like the new fad of artists giving more attention to their "haters" and less to the people that actually support them, but I digress.

We all know why Nicki was put on the track and why the decision to make that a lead single was made, it's clear as day.

"I Ain't Thru" peaked at No. 58 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart -- it has yet to break into the Hot 100 charts.

According to reports, DMX has been sentenced to one year behind bars after a judge revoked his probation.

The sentence came as a result of X's arrest in November after he abused prescription drugs without a prescription and failed to check in with his probation officer.
The one year jail sentence was handed down to the troubled rapper today (December 16) in Arizona.

DMX will return to Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Tent City Jail where he will serve his time sporting a pink stripped jail suit -- something that annoyed the rapper in the past.

At this point, I think it's clear to see that DMX has serious problems that are being overlooked, and repeatedly sending him to jail for said problems is like continuously putting a band aid on a wound instead of finding a way to heal it.

But I guess he would have to want to help himself first.

A lot of music fans may know Tank thanks to his hit single "Maybe I Deserve" released in 2001. And although he's released a few albums after his debut Force of Nature, Tank has managed to make a name for himself as a really great songwriter and producer but not so much an artist.

After you take a listen to Now or Never, you might just kick yourself for not uncovering the hidden gem known as Tank.

Now or Never stands as Tank's 4th studio album and it is a treat from start to finish. The tracks are grown and sexy and most importantly not too literal. The power of suggestion through the painting of vivid pictures using cool and calculated lyrics is the key on this LP.

Songs like "Scream," "Sex Music, and "Can I" are straight up lovemaking tracks while songs such as "Emergency," "Keep It 100," "Amazing," and "You Mean That Much" shows a woman's worth.

Now or Never is a solid body of work from the underrated artist and proves that there is R&B that still sounds like R&B in the market, you just have to do some digging and chance giving to find it.

Diddy is taking album promotions to a whole new level. The music mogul took to the Prince Street and Spring Street train stations in New York City to promote his latest album Last Train To Paris yesterday to help coincide with the album's release.

It seems that the advertisement threw some commuters off. Most complained that the ad was confusing.

According to the New York Daily News, Diddy also hired people to dress as train conductors and to say "All aboard! Last train to Paris!" throughout the train station

No surprise Diddy would go above and beyond to promote this album. It didn't look good for him when the album was repeatedly pushed back with fears from some fans that the album would be shelved. I was actually surprised that the album finally came out.

I did take a quick listen to Last Train To Paris and thought it was original. I do like the fact that it doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard before, but some of the songs had me wondering damn, he still hasn't gotten over JLO?

Diddy's ad campaign kind of reminds me of the same campaign Kanye was running a few years back. The ad appeared on trains and suggested that if one would call the listed number they would find out how they could "be Kanye."

Video: Usher Might Not Want Another Lapdance In NYC

At a recent show at Madison Square Garden during his OMG Tour stop, Usher was given a painful lapdance that saw the R&B crooners face becoming acquainted with a fans shoe.

While Usher's "Trading Places" set the mood, the eager female fan lifted her leg to straddle him, something I'm sure she imagined doing often in her mind. The problem with her fantasy/reality was that she didn't lift her leg high enough (flexibility is everything) and slapped Usher in the face with her foot.

Ouch.

Other than the mistaken assault, Usher got some great reviews for his show.

According to reports, Ja Rule has reached a plea deal on gun charges that stemmed from his July 2007 arrest -- the same time Lil Wayne was arrested for being in possession of a gun after a show in New York.

The plea deal was reached earlier today when Ja Rule stood before a judge in a Manhattan courtroom and plead guilty to the charges.

In response to the news, Rule tweeted, "Minor setback for a major comeback."

This is why I love VH1 Storytellers and why I was so happy it was brought back. It's one thing to like a song but it's another thing to know how it came to be and what the inspiration was behind its composition.

Some Yummy-Facts:

There are no name changes in T.I.'s songs. According to the ATL rapper, he uses real names when it comes to the characters in his lyrics.
When T.I. first heard "Bring Em Out" he was convinced that the track was supposed to go to Jay-Z.
I may be mistaken, but I think that Fantasia's brother, Ricco Barrino, was the back-up singer for T.I. during the show.

Ron Isley Says He Misses Jail

While T.I. is penning letters to his fans from his jail cell about how tired he is of jail and actor Wesley Snipes is beginning his 3 year bid behind bars after dodging his sentence for the past couple of years, living legend Ron Isley has nothing but good things to say about prison.

In case you missed it, Ron Isley was sentenced to prison in 2006 for tax evasion and spent 3 years behind bars.

Isley recently spoke with the Associated Press about his new album Mr. I (released November 30), how getting back into the swing of things is exciting again, along with his jail stint.

When asked about his time in prison, Ron Isley said that he missed his time in prison (more so the people) and mentioned how he was treated like a king.

In his words,

"I made a lot of friends. I was treated like a king. I had all of the respect that one would want. And it's a part of that that I miss — when I say I miss, I miss the people that I met," said the 69-year-old with the golden tenor.

"When I first went in there, there were 300 people there and those 300 people were behind me 100 percent, and when I say 100 percent, I really mean that," he added. "'What can we get for you? Do you need this, do you need that?' ... 24 hours a day, and that's a blessing." {Source}

Here is the new music video from Dr. Dre for his song "Kush" that features Snoop Dogg and Akon. "Kush" is said to be the lead single off of Dre's highly anticipated album Detox. Good luck wfinding out when it will come out...

The video is hot and so is the single, as sinful as it may be. For most of the video, Dre, Snoop and Akon are the only people in motion while partygoers and half-naked women are frozen in time, raining cash and all.

There were a few cliche moments for the veterans of rap but the video is creative. There's something very nostalgic about seeing Snoop and Dre together in a video again.

I think most fans are just happy to get some kind of sign that the Hip Hop urban legend known as Detox might finally be on its way.

Trey Songz stopped by The View yesterday (December 9) to perform his song (and my favorite track) "Can't Be Friends" off of his album Passion, Pain, and Pleasure in stores now.

Trey wasn't the only guest on the show that probably had the hosts and the audience members smiling from ear to ear. Prince also stopped by for a chat and Trey spoke about how he felt when he got a chance to meet and speak with Prince backstage.

A lot of people have said that they weren't big fans of this album but I thought this was probably Trey's best work and I haven't been impressed before the release of this LP. The songs were versatile and on most of the songs, the lyrics actually said something.

I'm still warming up to Trey's live performances. To me it just seems like he's doing too much but hey everyone's performance style is different. A little bit more of a natural vibe would best suit him, in my opinion.

I said it once and I'll say again: the amount of followers a celebrity has does not necessarily equate to the success they can see due to said followers. I'll lay off my assessment as I don't want to pour salt on the wound.

It seems Soulja Boy is taking a much needed break from social networking as told by his MIA presence on Twitter since Tuesday, odd for someone who doesn't miss a minute to tweet. Interestingly enough, this was the same time news spread that his highly promoted album The DeAndre Way was estimated to only move 13,000 copies in its first week.

Now the only reason why this draws any attention is because of SB's follower count, a count that many music artists and celebrities alike put so much emphasis on having.

Soulja Boy has over 2 million followers and out of those 2 million, only 13,000 bought albums?! A bit embarrassing, but a reality check for all.

We just hope he's just taking a break.

Keri Hilson Wouldn't Date A Rapper Because She Has A Brain

Keri Hilson stopped by late night host's Chelsea Lately's show last night to talk about her new album, what she has in common with the Kardashian's, and what she likes in a man.

When Chelsea inquired about if Keri would ever go out with a rapper, Hilson said that she wouldn't because rapper's are just not her type of men.

She cited the combination of them having wandering eyes for groupies (more or less), popularity, and money as a fear.

Keri also pointed out that she may not be the type of woman rappers seek because she may be more than they bargained for -- she has a brain.

Where have I heard this before...oh that's right, Alicia Keys said the same thing about dating a rapper and look at her current reality. Granted Swizz is part producer, but he is a rapper.

Right when I was beginning to believe that nude photo leaks was so 2009, we get some new nudies to gawk at...depending on your taste of course.

Singer Christina Aguilera has become the latest victim in leaked nude photos, hers being less racy than what we've seen in the past but racy nonetheless.

In photos that leaked online earlier today, the Burlesque star is seen in one pic wearing a robe that is slightly opened to reveal her flesh colored panties. In a second photo, Christina is pictured wearing a see-through top (bra-less) with jeans, but it is the final photos that has gums flapping.

In what seems like a costume, Christina is photoed cupping her breasts which are covered with bejeweled pasties, her body draped with rhinestone chains.

Christina's rep confirmed with US Magazine that the woman in the leaked photos are indeed Christina and that the photos were of course not supposed to be for public viewing but only for her stylist's eyes...what a job that stylist has huh?

In Christina's rep's words,

"The photos of Christina Aguilera being leaked to the press were illegally obtained by a hacker who tapped into Christina's personal stylist's account," the rep said. "The photos were taken in the privacy of Ms. Aguilera's home and were used only in a personal exchange between the star and her stylist."

Christina's rep also revealed that they are looking for the computer hackers who hacked Christina's stylist's computer and leaked the photos.

In an era where publicity stunts are as usual as rain, something seems suspicious here, but if they say the photos were leaked...

Since comedian/actor Russell Brand has made an honest woman out of Katy Perry it seems only right that she changes her name to fit her new reality. According to the Huffington Post, Katy Perry appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres show and revealed that she is currently in the process of changing her last name.

This of course is nothing new for Katy who chose to change her name from Kathryn Hudson to Katy Perry (Perry being her mother's maiden name) so that there wouldn't be any confusion between her Christian singing roots and more so between she and actress Kate Hudson.

There is no word on if "Brand" will be added to Perry's stage name, though I doubt it.

AMAs 2010: People Were Not Impressed With Rihanna's Vocals (Video)

Last night, the American Music Awards aired live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California, awarding the artists in their designated genres and their musical contributions.

The performances for the night were lukewarm -- which isn't much of a surprise given the current climate of award show performances not being up to par. But still the mess was entertaining.

There was no Hip-Hop and R&B; it was straight Pop no chaser.

The opening act for the night was Rihanna who performed a 7+ minute medley of songs that appear on her new LP Loud in stores now.

I commented on Rihanna's vocals via my Twitter, pointing out how I felt she improved vocally.

Most people disagreed...wholeheartedly.

I'll admit, when she first started out it sounded good, but after taking another listen to her performance, it wasn't as great as I thought.

The positive, however, is that Rihanna was entertaining. She showed personality, was confident, and she was fun to look watch which I'm sure her people were hoping to bank off of.

The fact still remains though, people are still not happy with her vocally and I doubt they ever will be.

I wasn't blown away by her voice, but I wasn't disappointed either.

It seems rapper T.I. has had somewhat of an epiphany while behind bars. As we already know, T.I. is serving out his 11 month sentence at the same Arkansas prison he served his sentence for his gun charge.

Judging from a new letter penned by the rapper, he's fed up with jail and is looking to make his recent stint his very last.

In a letter, T.I. writes...

"This experience is truly a pain I have never felt before and that's saying a lot for a nigga who's been down locked up as many times as I have. I see this as a real ass whoopin'. The kind you don't just go back outside to play afterwards. You take ya ass to bed and don't come out of your room until it's time to go to school.

I don' t know what effect this will have on my life moving forward but I'm certainly sick and mother f*cking tired of going to jail, juve, prison, the pen, correctional facilities or whatever else you want to call it. I'd have been better off doing a 5-10 year bid one time than going in time and time again for days, weeks and months for the last 15 years of my life.

Even though it's been a long road, I'm still standing, barely but nevertheless still standing. At one time I thought my motivation for continuing was for my fans, my partna Philant, my pops, my grandmama, even for the haters or the people I let down. But nah... I got to do this shit for me!!! Rapper Raekwon recently sat down to talk about his new album Shaolin vs. Wu Tang and got a little surprise during the interview.

It turns out, like many of us, Raekwon is a huge Boondocks fan and is a little sad that season 3 has been reported to be the last season of the funny animated show.

Though he understands that the show has come to a close, he begs the creator of the animated series, Aaron McGruder, to bring it back for another season and to have him [Raekwon] do a voice over for one of the characters.

I would so watch that episode...

Raekwon's Shaolin vs. Wu Tang is slated for release in early 2011.

Beyonce Will Incorporate Live Instruments On New Album

Everyone has been waiting patiently to learn of new information regarding Beyonce's new album.

It's funny really; just a year ago we were begging for girlfriend to take a break and now we want her back...we are so conflicted.

Anyway, during an interview on the set of a shoot for a new Vizio commercial, Beyonce opened up about what we can expect to get from her anticipated fourth solo studio album.

According to Beyonce, the singer will be adding the sounds of live instruments to change up her style on the new LP.

No word yet on when we can expect the album but something tells me we might get a sample before the year ends and probably get a new album in the spring of 2011.

It's official, Ne-Yo is the brand new proud father of a baby girl.

The child's mother, Monyetta, went into labor while Ne-Yo was attending a charity event prompting the R&B singer to leave the event to make it just in time to witness the birth of his daughter on Friday (11.12).

Ne-Yo took to his twitter to share the good news and to thank his fans for their kind words following his daughter's birth.

"Much luv to my twit fam and everybody showin' luv to my new addition!! She's healthy and happy. Feels like I'm in luv for the first time."

"Welcoming that lil' girl to the world last night defined for me what "willing to kill and die for" truly means. My world, my life,all hers."

Nicki Minaj Is Embarrassed By Her Single 'Massive Attack'

While I was listening to the snippets of singles off Nicki's debut album Pink Friday, I noticed that her first single "Massive Attack" was missing from the bunch.

It probably was reported prior to the release of the previews that the song wouldn't make the album and that it had become the unofficial lead single of Pink Friday, but that more than likely went over my head.

It's no secret; most music fans were left unimpressed by Nicki's "Massive Attack" as it just didn't seem like a solid single. It seems Nicki wasn't a fan of it either.

The raptress told Billboard in a cover story that she pretends that "Massive Attack" doesn't exist to avoid feeling further embarrassment. [link]

[NEWS] Kanye West Cancels 'Today Show' Performance 'For Obvious Reasons'

Kanye West is still not over his train wreck of an interview with The Today Show's Matt Lauer. So much so, the outspoken MC has decided to cancel his performance on the show that was scheduled to take place on Friday, November 26.

West took to his Twitter early this morning to announce that he will not be obliging The Today Show with a performance following his interview with Matt Lauer that he described as being "brutal."

"I'm not performing on the 'Today' show for obvious reasons," Kanye wrote via his Twitter. The "Monster" rapper is currently in Dubai where he is scheduled to perform in a live concert. "I'm so happy that my real fans are not as "basic" as the media makes them out to be..."

"Do you guys see what I'm saying now?" West continued. "This is just a small slice of the day-to-day bullsh-- that goes on that helps to precipitate the idea that I['m] such an a--hole. Cause when I don't perform 'Oh Nooow I'm the one that's crazy or a jerk.' "

Kanye did go on to say that he does not hate Matt Lauer for his part in the interview and that he accepts Matt and The Today Show's "future apology."

I mean, Kanye has every right to feel however he feels. The way the interview was conducted you could tell they had plans to have him appear a certain way which was not close to being in a positive light.

Although I feel Kanye did his best to maintain his cool, there is so much cool you can maintain when you are being bombarded with redundant questions and forced to apologize for something you solemnly don't feel is necessary to apologize for even if he acted like a diva.

I'm still trying to understand how it was determined that Kanye called George Bush a racist just from his statement, but I digress because that's a debate I'm in no mood to get in to.

At the end, Kanye had no business doing the interview in the first place.

Kanye probably feels a "special live concert on the plaza" is not needed hen Rolling Stone just rated his new LP My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 5 stars.

I do wonder though, did the reps for The Today Show know he wasn't going to perform before or after the tweet?

If I could describe this interview in one word it would definitely be awkward.

Besides the fact that George Bush's sensitivities were expressed in a situation that holds little weight to other pressing issues that we are still dealing with today (woosah), Kanye's decision to even sit down for this interview was a big no and should have been viewed as a big NO from the start.

There just isn't any winning in this interview, especially for a person like Kanye (and most people who need air to survive) who likes being celebrated more than being criticized. He had every right to feel as he did (Twitter rant and all) but it would have been better if he didn't agree to this interview in the first place if you ask me.

November 22 is slowly approaching and the debates are not showing any signs of dying down when it comes to Nicki Minaj's future in music. A lot of music fans are waiting to see how well the album will do as that would be an indicator of where Nicki's career is headed.

A collection of previews from Pink Friday has hit the net for the listening pleasure of the rapper's adorers and doubters. Even though it's just a tease, it's something to add a little fuel to the can-she-do-it fire.

I'm waiting for the album to come out because as I always say I can take Nicki in small doses a.k.a. features not so much full track, so a snippet might sound great but an actual song may differ or on the flip side, the snippet might not suffice for the real thing.

Natasha Bedingfield, Drake, Eminem, Rihanna, and Will.I.Am are some of the artists featured on Pink Friday.
Nicki even has a song on Pink Friday that answers the lingering questions from people who remember her pre-commercial popularity titled "Dear Old Nicki." I'm most interested in that track.

Ex-Destiny's Child member LaTavia Roberson appeared on an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta that aired Sunday night and sent the net buzzing.

According to LaTavia, she was told that she didn't do enough in the group to have an opinion. We don't know who said it and in what regards it was said in.

She did reveal that following her dismissal from Destiny's Child, she turned to drinking, racked up a DWI, and also went to jail (not sure if it was for the DWI or for another charge).

But LaTavia is ready for a comeback, so we may see something new from her soon.

Before seeing her on this show, however, I do remember a few years back hearing about LaTavia joining an all-girl group with Farrah (the other replacement that was axed from Destiny's Child). I could be mistaken.

It seems a lot has changed with Shyne since he's been incarcerated and released, especially when it comes to religion.

The New York Times published a story yesterday about Shyne's new found religion of Judaism.

Shyne believes that the "science of Judaism" allows him to connect with god better and to become a better human being as a whole. He also mentioned that he plans to fuse his hip hop world with that of an observant Jew.

As Shyne tells it...

"My entire life screams that I have a Jewish neshama,” he said, using the Hebrew word for soul." {Source}

Wasn't expecting this but glad to see that he is following a discipline.

As for the album, we are still waiting; but he did reveal that two more albums will follow the new LP after its release.

[News] Rolling Stone Ranks Kanye's New LP A 'Classic' 5 Stars

The word around the net is that Kanye is still the ish...allow me to elaborate.

Rolling Stone posted their review of Kanye's fifth studio album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and it was a gush fest.

Wonderful endearments such as the album being a "rockstar manifesto" and Kanye's "best album", you would think My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was the second-coming of MJ's Thriller.

Here's an excerpt from the review.

"My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is his most maniacally inspired music yet, coasting on heroic levels of dementia, pimping on top of Mount Olympus. Yeezy goes for the grandeur of stadium rock, the all-devouring sonics of hip-hop, the erotic gloss of disco, and he goes for all of it, all the time. Nobody halfway sane could have made this album...

Last time, Kanye went minimal for the electro melancholia of 808s & Heartbreak. But on Fantasy, he gets ridiculously maximal, blowing past all the rules of hip-hop and pop, even though, for the past half-decade, he’s been the one inventing the rules. VIDEO: Kelly Price, Marsha Ambrosius, Jill Scott, & Ledisi Steal The Show At 'Black Girls Rock'

I got a chance to catch the 5th annual Black Girls Rock Awards last night on BET (which was the first time the awards was televised) and was blown away.

The performances, the honorees speeches, and the overall energy of the event was awe inspiring and worth the watch.

Although I loved everything about the award show, the rendition of Nina Simone's "Four Women" did it for me.

All of the women held their own (although Marsha didn't know how to turn off the acrobats for Chaka's "Im Every Woman" at the conclusion of the show) and did the job of drawing the crowd into the lyrics with their superb singing abilities.

Would it be too much to ask for a collaborative album from these ladies? I'll add it to my wish list...

Why Is Nicki Minaj Denying That She Fired Shots At Lil Kim On 'Roman's Revenge'?

For the past week or so, I have been hearing about Nicki Minaj's verse on her song "Roman's Revenge" that also featured Eminem. I heard the song and was impressed for two reasons:

1) Nicki was able to hold her own alongside Eminem. Eminem has been known on many occasions to take the shine away from some of the artists he collaborates with often times killing rappers on their own sh*t, so kudos to her.

and...

2) Nicki finally went live with her thoughts regarding other female rappers and their loose lips. We have been waiting for her to respond to some of the rappers both underground and well-known who have been talking slick about Nicki; and when she finally did say something about it, she came out swinging.

But now that the single is out and everyone has connected the dots, Nicki is saying that the song was not about the one person we all assumed it to be about...why?

In a recent interview with DJ Khaled on his radio show in Miami, Khaled asked Nicki about her verse and if it was about Kim. Nicki denied it but then went on to contradict herself.

No, I’m talking about everyone who has been in interviews talking and I think it’s good for people to hear me respond to ….People have said so much about me, So I don’t ever single anyone out because no one is worth being singled out. No one is worth having their name mentioned out of my mouth and they never will get that.

I’ve been quiet for such a long time and I’ve been the nice guy. I’ve been the person that gave everyone their props. I’ve complimented everybody from day one. I think that as a rapper, you can’t be a rapper and not speak on things being said about you. I use my music to say what I have to say. {Source}

So... then she is talking about Kim, right?

The key phrase being "No, I'm talking about everyone who has been in interviews and I think it’s good for people to hear me respond to." Why not just admit to what everyone knows is true? The main person that has been in interviews downplaying Nicki's greatness has been Kim or am I mistaken?

No one is asking for a single out, but a simple yes I was talking about Kim along with other female rappers who have been talking out the side of their neck about my success would have done just well.

Just a thought.

It's not to say that you become classless because you acknowledge beef. To me, Nicki's denial is similar to a person who throws a rock and then hide their hands.

Either way, some are waiting to see what Lil Kim has to say about this, although most are convinced that Nicki may have knocked her out.

MC Hammer Was Serious About His Jay-Z Diss (Video)

Here is a new video from MC Hammer for his song "Better Run Run!"

This stands as an answer to Jay-Z's verse in the Kanye West joint single "So Appalled" where Jay-Z makes mention to Hammer's financial woes.

First let me say that I respect Hammer (who is now going by King Hammer) for all that he's done for rap and entertainment as a whole. He was the first rapper to go diamond and that without a doubt opened the door for other artists including Jay-Z to cement themselves in a genre that was once considered a fad.

With that said, I have to admit that this video was disturbing. Besides the fact that it is catering to all the devil worshipping talk that has been running rampant in Hip Hop, it just was weird.

Kanye West premiered his full-length mini film "Runaway" last night to an eager viewing audience looking to be pulled into his world.

And boy were we...

Kanye plays a man that falls in love with a phoenix played by model Selita Ebanks.

The video opened up with Kanye running frantically down a street. This would be explained near the conclusion of the video.

the full 35 mintues blew my mind and left me confused and inspired all at the same time.

I will say that the video was ultra creative and vivid and one of a kind.

If I had to sum it up in one statement, I would say that Kanye's "Runaway" video is similar to a dream you would have if you went to sleep on a full stomach.

Watch the full video below. The MJ float scene was my favorite although it creeped me out just a bit-- what with the giant head and hooded individuals that looked like members of the KKK.

Beyonce Is NOT Pregnant, Says Tina Knowles

Beyonce's mother, Tina Knowles, has shot down reports that Beyonce is with child.

Us Weekly reported yesterday, that Beyonce was pregnant with her first child and was in her first trimester.

Some people of course had their reservations about the news because it's kind of like hearing that you will get something for free when in actuality you have to buy something first *personal moment.* Yes, that same duped feeling...

Turns out, the reservations proved to be valid because Beyonce's mother has gone on record to say that the pregnancy news holds no truth.

"No, it's not true. Not right now. I'm looking forward to it. With all the rumors, by now I should have five or six grandchildren," Tina Knowles told Ellen DeGeneres in a taped interview for the talk show host's show.

Tina's appearance on the show is said to air today.

It's interesting that the "source" went into details of how Beyonce was shocked at the news (I'll bet!) and even got a quote from an industry friend.

I did find it odd that others would come forward and speak on her pregnancy without Beyonce confirming it first.

Nevertheless, I'm over it.

When she gets pregnant I'm sure we won't know about it until the paparazzi snaps pics of her and Jay at the kid's high school graduation.

And where is this new single that was rumored to drop like last week?!

[NEWS] Rihanna Leaves Manager For Jay-Z's Roc Nation Management

According to Associate Press, Rihanna has parted ways with her manager Marc Jordan and will now be managed by Jay's Roc Nation Management company.

This comes as little surprise as Jay was the one who signed Rihanna to Def Jam.

Not to mention, he was the one responsible for Rihanna's fame taking a well deserved push after he dropped his verse on her now infamous single "Umbrella."

Rihanna said in a statement that she is excited about her new career move and that she will be launching her very own company, Rihanna Entertainment, which will "merge all of her businesses, including music, film, fragrance fashion and book ventures."

Rihanna is currently gearing up to release her newest album Loud due in stores November 16.

According to US Weekly, Beyonce is pregnant and this time it just might not be a rumor.

Apparently, Beyonce herself was shocked to learn of her pregnancy as she was planning on releasing a new album and to "tour the world again," according to the source.

Now, you're probably thinking what I thought which is that this is just another one of those pregnancy rumors surrounding Beyonce and Jay-Z to add to all the rest, but US got some quotes!

One of which being from Kevin Liles...

"Jay has been all about family since I met him, and he's always going to be," record executive Kevin Liles, who has known the rapper for years, tells Us. "I wish them the best."

A part of me is still looking at this with a side eye because we've been here before. Either way, we'll soon see.

According to reports, T.I. has officially been dropped from AXE body spray's promotional campaign.

It seems that the reps over at AXE have decided to cut ties with T.I. for good. The company in a statement last month, said that they were "troubled" by the rapper's latest brush with the law after T.I. and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle were arrested and charged with drug possession.

Last week, it was reported that T.I. was sentenced to 11 months behind bars for violating the terms of his probation.

T.I. is scheduled to start his sentencing in November.

The rapper recently sat down for an interview in Atlanta where he was reunited with the suicide jumper he helped talk down off the ledge.

This issue will feature two separate profiles on the odd pair as well as a "Q&A roundtable discussion between the two."

As you know, Soulja Boy is gearing up to release his next album The DeAndre Way while 50...well, he's around still making money doing whatever it is that he does.

50 said in one of the quotes from the interview that if he could be another artist, just for right now, that he would be Soulja Boy.

Soulja offered up his own bromantic quote, saying that "if there wasn’t no 50 Cent, there would be no Soulja Boy."

[NEWS] Kanye West Says He Contemplated Suicide

Kanye told an audience of attendees who gathered to view his abstract 35-minute film, that he at one point considered taking his own life.

The screening for West's Runaway film was held in Los Angeles, California, Monday (October 18) and was said to include in various scenes the following: sheep, ballerinas, deer, rabbits, and a float depicting Michael Jackson among other things.

The film reportedly was shot with "boldly colorful visuals and off-kilter camera angles" with 9 new Kanye singles playing in the background of the scenes.

There is also narration done by rapper Nicki Minaj in the prelude of the film.

Kanye referred to himself as a "pop icon" and "soldier of culture", according to the Associated Press, right before opening up about his thoughts about how he considered suicide.

"There were times that I contemplated suicide. I will not give up on life again. There’s so many people that will never get the chance to have their voice heard. I do it for them." {Source}

Is Kanye West Being Artistic Or Controversial?

Earlier this week, Kanye West made headlines after he tweeted a photo of the possible album art for his new album My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy. Of course, views regarding the album art were split with some reiterating his "this is art" claim and others just coming to the conclusion that Kanye is in another universe.

I happen to agree with the latter...

Kanye went on a mini tirade about the banning of the cover stating "Yoooo they banned my album cover!!!!! Ima tweet it in a few...In the 70s album covers had actual nudity... It's so funny that people forget that... Everything has been so commercialized now...I wanna sell albums but not at the expense of my true creativity..."

West also brought up how Nirvana, a 90's grunge-rock band, had a "naked human being" on their album cover and had little problems with the cover being banned. But now he wants to put out an album that has a naked...something...on the cover and it's a problem.

This is the Nirvana cover I assume he's referring to...

I see his point, but his album cover is just plain scary. I'm talking inducing of nightmares scary. The faces alone on the cover is uncomfortable. Then you add the wings, tail and no arms..yeah.

When I first saw Kanye's album cover I had to do a double take because I thought my eyes were fooling me. Beyond the nudity, which to me didn't really matter, I thought the damn thing was just plain disturbing, sorry to sound redundant.

When push comes to shove, people can label it art and all will be well with the world, right?

I believe Kanye's decision to make that art his album cover was done for pure shock value. At this point in the game, I think that Kanye is banking on controversy when he doesn't even need it, his talent gets enough attention. I'm probably the biggest Kanye fan out there. Check out my past blog posts and you'll see that I was sticking by Hip-Hop's problem child's side despite all the insult hurling following VMA-gate.

But this...this right here is just too much for me.

Controversy sells, yes, but just like beauty it fades after awhile.

And the whole "this is art" thing, just stop it and call a spade a spade...

Simply put, the video is hot! A lot of dancing and special effects that isn't flashy in the least bit, gives way to an intense video.

[NEWS] Nas Slams Def Jam Execs In E-Mail

Now see, this is why I love me some friggin' Nasir Jones. This man is the epitome of a person that stands firm for music. When I sit around and debate with like-minded music fiends and people look at me like I've lost my mind or have nothing better to do, I look at them and give them the eye of sympathy because they just don't get it and that's fine because we all can't.

But enough about me, lets get into this e-mail...

Nas sent an e-mail to the execs over at Def Jam demanding a bigger budget and some promotion for his project. if you can recall, last year Nas announced that he would be releasing another solo project sometime this year following the release of his collaborative LP with Damian Marley. We haven't heard anything about it so I'm sure most have just chocked it up to the album being axed.

On the contrary, as told by Nas' e-mail.

In said e-mail complete with the subject "Put My Sh*t Out," Nas tells the execs that they are messing with his dreams and want to put out good music. One of the funny parts for me is when he reads them and point out that they are not the stars that they think they are (one of the execs CC'd in the e-mail was pictured in my mind with that last statement).

I started this over 5 years ago @ Columbia and nobody knew what it was or what it did but the label put it out as an LP and the fans went crazy for it and I single handlely built a new brand of rap albums. It’s smart and after 5 years it’s still a head of the game. This feels great and you not feeling what I’m feeling is disturbing. Don’t get in the way of my creativity. We are aligned with the stars here, this is a movement. There is a thing called KARMA that comes to haunt you when you tamper with the aligning stars. WE ARE GIVING THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT. What's interesting is that Q-Tip said a similar thing about those who work behind the desks in the music industry. In an interview with XXL Mag Q-Tip mentioned that "A lot of people who curate in the business, and curate the art don’t really have good artistic sense. They may know commerce, but they aren’t savvy enough to know how to balance commerce and art, you know?"

It's good to see artists fighting for their craft instead of just settling.

[RUMOR] Why Would Kanye West Cancel An Appearance On Oprah?

I read a little tidbit yesterday that still has me scratching my head in confusion. Apparently, Kanye West has canceled an impending appearance on Oprah for an undisclosed reason.

In Touch Weekly claims that Kanye sent Oprah's "people" an e-mail stating that he will be unable to appear on her show.

At first I attributed the cancellation of his appearance to him globetrotting and planting air kisses on models and the likes in Paris at fashion shows. But then I thought: no, that doesn't make sense and it doesn't seem logical ...Kanye has to be smarter than that.

He's a Chicago native, Oprah's show is in Chicago; plus, he has this new album coming out in a month. There's no way Kanye would pass up an opportunity to appear on Oprah's show, a show that is currently in its final season, or would he?

So, I don't know how much truth this holds, but if it is true that's not a good look.

Granted, Oprah has had her reservations about Hip Hop artists in the past; she did have Jay-Z on her couch. She even went strolling through the projects and I'm sure not to just catch a little sun.

Needless to say, I will have to wait and see if any of this is true. According to the magazine, Oprah isn't too pleased about Kanye's cancellation and the tacky way he did it ...allegedly.

Kanye West Does SNL (Video)

Leave it to Kanye West to blow the minds of those who doubt him. The rapper returned to SNL to perform live for viewers and the studio audience this past Saturday and surely they were not expecting to get the experience they were dealt.

Kanye started his performance with "Runaway." With a bevy of ballerina's behind him, Kanye threw himself into his performance emotions and all.

The style was similar to how he performed "Runaway" at the MTV VMAs; in fact, I think he was wearing the same friggin' suit. Nothing wrong with that, but it is new of Kanye who I can't remember seeing wearing an outfit more than once.

But it was his "Power" performance that left me in awe. The man practically recreated the video (or should we say video painting) live on TV! It was insane to say the least and the visuals should be explanation enough. He did, however, leave out the SNL diss which I wasn't so happy about. I wanted to see him take it there.

Nevertheless, the live audience and viewers at home have never seen some sh*t like this, I'm almost positive about that.

[NEWS] Kanye West Upset Over Leaked Songs, Cancels G.O.O.D. Friday

Kanye West announced via his Twitter that we can forget about getting a new song this Friday because we are ungrateful. OK... he didn't say it like that but in essence that's what he meant.

They say one bad apple ruins it for the bunch. Kanye feels that way about bloggers.

Earlier this summer, Kanye promised that he would release new music ever Friday until Christmas in an effort to give fans fresh new songs to keep them entertained. Every Friday (well, except one when he released the new track on a Saturday), Kanye has released new music.

Last week, a demo of an unfinished song hit the faucet. Kanye ignored it and still released "So Appalled" which featured Jay-Z, Pusha T, RZA and Swizz Beatz.

But it seems the recent leak of his song "Lost In The World" rubbed Kanye the wrong way which led him to tweet that G.O.O.D. Friday is axed... for this week that is.

"Due to blogs leaking unfinished songs from my actual album I've decided to pass of Good Fridays this week," Kanye tweeted in response to the leaks. "It's messed up that one hacker can mess everything up for everyone."

"I love to take a year to finish my songs and deliver them to you guys in there most completed form. It would have seemed like since I give free music every week even the lowest form of human being would respect that enough not to leak unfinished songs from my real album." {Source}

[NEWS] LL Cool J, Beastie Boys & Donna Summer Are Nominees For The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees have been announced and Hip-Hop and Disco are in the building.

LL Cool J and the Beastie Boys have been selected as nominees to be considered for possible induction.

Ms. "Love to Love You Baby", Donna Summer, has also been nominated for induction. If you are not familiar with Donna Summer (how could you not be) she is the voice behind "Last Dance" and her song "Love to Love You Baby" was sampled for Beyonce's "Naughty Girl" off of her album Dangerously In Love.

It's interesting that there are two acts nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Before Run DMC were inducted in 2009, only one other rap act, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, were inducted and that was in 2007. Looks like we should get used to seeing rap acts being nominated now that Hip-Hop is a pretty big deal.

Can't wait to see who gets nominated!

Inductees will be announced in December and the ceremony will be held next March.
